Location Settings (GPS) Available on Your Galaxy Tab S

The Location settings allows you to choose how your device will determine your location.

GPS and Location Settings

  1. To access the Location settings, from the Home screen, touch Apps Settings > Location. Touch the slider to turn Location on.   

  2. The Improve location accuracy? message will pop up if you have not marked the Don't show again box previously. Touch AGREE if you want to activate the feature or touch DISAGREE if you do not want to activate it.

Mode

  1. Touch Mode to select your preferred locating method.

  2. Choose from the following:

    • High accuracy: This option has the highest level of accuracy, using GPS and Wi-Fi interchangeably to estimate your location.

    • Power saving: This option uses only Wi-Fi to estimate your location.

    • GPS only: This option uses only the GPS network to estimate your location.

Recent Location Requests

Any apps that have requested access to your location will display in this area. Under the app name, you will see the battery usage required for this app to make the request. Touch an app to access its app info screen.

Google Location History

  1. Touch Google Location Reporting.

  2. Touch the slider to switch Google Location Reporting on.  

  3. You may also touch Delete Location History to delete location history.

My Places

  1. Touch My Places.   

  2. Touch 1 to add a place, or select one of the three pre-defined places: Home, Work, or Car.  

  3. Enter a Name for the place. If you selected Home, Work, or Car, you cannot rename the location.   

  4. Touch Select method and select the feature you want to use to define this location. Choose Maps to define this location using GPS information. Choose Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to define this location by its connection to a Wi-Fi access point or Bluetooth device.    

  5. Follow the steps for the method you select. For Maps, you will need to search for your location or use the current GPS coordinates. For Wi-Fi, you will be asked to select the Wi-Fi access point. For Bluetooth, you will be asked to select the device from a list of available devices.  

  6. Touch Save.
