Galaxy View - What is the Do not disturb feature, and how do I use it on my Samsung Galaxy View?

Do not disturb mode mutes all alerts on your device, unless you set them as exceptions. You can set Do not disturb mode to turn on or off automatically at scheduled times.

Turn On Do Not Disturb Mode

    From Settings

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch Settings.

  3. Touch Sounds and notifications.

  4. Touch Do not disturb.

  5. Touch the slider OFF next to Turn on now to turn Do not disturb mode ON.

    Using Quick Settings Panel Shortcuts

  1. Swipe from the top of the screen to the bottom to access the Notification Panel.

  2. Swipe to the left on the Quick Settings Panel shortcuts at the top of the screen.

  3. Touch the Do not disturb shortcut to turn on the feature.

Manage Scheduling

You can set Do not disturb mode to turn on or off automatically at scheduled times.

If you turn on Do not disturb mode manually, it will stay on until you turn it off manually, regardless of any schedules you have set.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch Settings.

  3. Touch Sounds and notifications.

  4. Touch Do not disturb.

  5. Touch the slider OFF next to Turn on as scheduled to turn it ON so you can set the dates and times Do not disturb mode will be on or off.

  6. Touch Days and mark the checkboxes for the days when you want Do not disturb mode to turn on automatically. Touch DONE.

  7. Touch Start time. Touch the top or bottom of the hour and minute displays and AM or PM to set the time Do not disturb mode will turn on. Touch DONE.

    Touch KEYPAD to enter the time directly.

  8. Touch End time. Touch the top or bottom of the hour and minute displays and AM or PM to set the time Do not disturb mode will turn off. Touch DONE.

Set Up Exceptions

If there are select notifications you want to receive even when Do not disturb mode is turned on, you can set these notifications as exceptions.

If alarms are not set as an exception, Do not disturb mode will silence all alarms set on your device.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch Settings.

  3. Touch Sounds and notifications.

  4. Touch Do not disturb.

  5. Touch Allow exceptions.

  6. Touch the slider OFF at the top-right corner to turn Allow exceptions ON.

  7. Touch the slider OFF next to each type of notification you want to turn ON.

  8. The following options are available:

    • Alarms: Allow notification sounds and vibrations for alarms. This exception will turn on by default when exceptions are turned on.

    • Messages: Allow notification sounds and vibrations for incoming messages.

    • Calls and/or messages from: Choose whose messages will cause your device to play a notification sound or vibrate. Select All, Favorite contacts only, or Contacts only. 

      This option is only available when the messages exception is turned on.

    • Events and reminders: Allow notification sounds and vibrations for Calendar events and personal reminders.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch Settings.

  3. Touch Sounds and notifications.

  4. Touch Do not disturb.

    Using the Notification Panel

  1. Swipe from the top of the screen to the bottom to access the Notification Panel.

  2. Touch TURN OFF.
