Always read the literature that came with the washer before installing it. Samsung recommends only using professional installers to install Home Appliances. LEARN MORE

Before you install your washer, make sure the location you intend to install the washer meets the washer Installation Surface, Water, and Power requirements.

Installation Surface requirements:

  • Has a hard, level surface

  • Is away from direct sunlight

  • Has adequate ventilation

  • Will not be exposed to freezing temperatures (below 32°F or 0°C)

  • Is away from heat sources such as coal or gas

  • Has enough space so that your washer does not stand on its power cord

  • Has at least 2 inches of clearance on the left and right sides to prevent bumping into the wall or dryer

  • Does not have any carpeting that will obstruct ventilation openings

  • Does not have dust, oil, detergent, etc.

Water requirements:

  • Water faucets must be within 4 feet (122cm) of the washer back to accommodate the inlet hoses provided with your washer.

  • To fill your washer correctly in the proper amount of time, the water pressure in your house must be between 20 and 116 psi.

  • Note: Water pressure less than 20 psi can cause water valve failure or prevent the water valve from shutting off completely. A fill time limit is built into the controls of your washing machine. If your washer takes too long to fill or has a leaking or ruptured internal hose, the washer controls will turn it off. If you need help confirming the water pressure, Samsung recommends contacting a certified plumber in your area for assistance.

Power requirements:

  • A 3-Prong, well grounded 120 Volt 60 Hz approved electrical outlet protected by a 15 amp fuse or circuit breaker.

  • Note: The washer is grounded through the third prong of the power cord when plugged into a 3-Prong grounded receptacle. If you need help confirming the power requirements, Samsung recommends contacting a licensed electrician in your area for assistance.

Install the Pedestal

Tools needed:

  • Phillips head screwdriver

  • Level

Install the Pedestal
Level the pedestal by placing a level on all four sides and adjusting the legs with the supplied spanner wrench. Open the drawer of the pedestal to allow the front leg clamps to open completely. Using a phillips head screwdriver, remove the screws holding each of the four leg clamps together. Open all four leg clamps.

Attach the Pedestal
With the help of another person, lean the washer back until it is laying down flat on its back or side. Verify that the plastic feet are completely tightened. With the help of another person, tilt the washer upright. Lift the washer onto the pedestal, making sure the feet on the washer align with the clamps on the pedestal. Verify that each foot on the washer is fully seated in the clamps on the pedestal. Close the clamps around each foot and fasten with the screws that were removed in step 3 of the Install the Pedestal Section. Do not force or overtighten them, as they can break. Slide the cover guards into place on each corner. The pedestal is now installed.

Remove the Shipping Bolts

  • Samsung Front Load washers typically come with 4 shipping bolts, however, some models have only 3.

  • Before the washer is installed, remove the shipping bolts and store them for later use, in case you move or the washer is moved to a different location. If you do not remove the shipping bolts, the washer will vibrate excessively, which will cause permanent damage to the unit.

  • Do not discard the shipping bolts, as they may be needed in the future. If you transport the washer, you must re-install the shipping bolts. Also, you must install the shipping bolts if you are going to lay the washer on it's side or back for pedestal installation.

  • Shipping bolts are available from J&J parts.
Visit www.samsungparts.com and enter "shipping bolt" into the key word search in the search bar to the right to find the part number and cost.

To remove the shipping bolts, follow these steps:

Loosen all bolts with the supplied spanner (wrench). Slide the bolt and spacer up and then remove the bolt with the spacer through the hole in the rear wall of the washer. Fill the holes with the supplied plastic covers. Store the shipping bolts and spacers for future use.

Water Supply and Drain Hose Connections

• Samsung recommends a vertical discharge of no more than nine feet, with a maximum of thirteen feet.
• For correct water use, connect both HOT and COLD water valves. If one is not connected, an nF (no fill) error can occur.

To install the washing machine, follow these steps:
Place the drain hose in the drain facility. Make sure an airtight connection is NOT made between the drain hose and the standpipe. The standpipe must be at least 18in or 46cm high.

Note: Caution must always be exercised to avoid collapsing or damaging the drain hose. For the best results, the drain hose should not be restricted in any way by elbows, couplings, or excessive lengths. For situations where the drain hose cannot be conveniently elevated to at least 18in or 46cm, the drain hose must be supported.

Check both ends of the inlet hoses to ensure a rubber washer is inside each end of the fill hoses. Thread one end of the hoses to the HOT and COLD faucet connections.

Note:  Make sure the hose with the red line is attached to the HOT faucet. Tighten by hand until snug, and then tighten two-thirds of a turn with pliers.  Place the unconnected ends of the hoses in a bucket and open the faucet connected to the two hoses for 10 to 15 seconds to flush out any foreign substances. Close the faucets before continuing.

Thread the other end of the hoses to the intake connections on the back of the washer.

Note:  Make sure the hose with the red line is attached to the HOT faucet. Tighten by hand until snug, and then tighten two-thirds of a turn with pliers.

Turn on both HOT and COLD water supplies, and then check all connections at the water valve and the faucet for leaks.

Level the Washer and Adjust for Vibration

• Never install your washing machine on a carpet or other soft flooring surface.
• Leveling the washer is critical for proper operation. An un-leveled washer can cause many different problems including vibrations, odors, and detergent drawer residue issues.

• Make sure the shipping bolts are removed.
• If you are using a pedestal, use the instructions listed below to level your pedestal. Connect your washing machine, and then adjust the leveling where needed.
• Level the pedestal and washing machine in their final resting location.
• Installation and the issues associated with installation are not covered under the manufactures warranty. Please contact your installer. If you installed it yourself, and would like to have a professional installer level the appliance, please contact your retailer.

To level your washing machine and adjust for vibration, follow these steps:

Loosen the locking nuts and screw the washer legs all the way up into the washer chassis. Move the washing machine into its final resting location. Try rocking the washer back and forth and side to side. If the washer rocks, unscrew the appropriate leg so that the leg makes contact with the floor and the washer no longer rocks. Place a level on the top of the washer. It does not matter if you place the level front to back or right to left first.

Note: You must level all 4 sides.

Insert a small load of laundry into the washing machine and run a Spin cycle to check for excessive vibration. When the machine begins to rev up to a higher RPM, adjust the height of the legs by turning the legs left or right, checking the level frequently between adjustments.

Note: A properly leveled surface looks like the illustration shown below.

After the washer is level, tighten the locking nut on each leg to ensure that they stay in place.

Note: Over time, because of vibration, the locking nuts may loosen slightly and readjustments maybe needed. The locking nut should be flush against the bottom of your washer when fully tightened.

Run a Test Load

Now that the washer is installed, go ahead and throw some jeans or towels in and run a load. This will let you know if you've leveled and adjusted for vibration correctly.
