Use Screen Mirroring on Your Ultra HD Blu-ray Player (UBD-K8500)
The Screen Mirroring function on your Ultra HD Blu-ray player allows you to easily share content on your portable device with others by watching it on TV. By connecting your mobile device wirelessly to your Ultra HD Blu-ray player, you can now send the image your TV via the HDMI connection and share it with the rest of the room.
You Will Need:
- Ultra HD Blu-ray player connected to your TV
- Compatible smart device or tablet
- Locate the compatible function on your mobile device; this setting may be listed as Screen Mirroring, or AllShare Cast
The Screen Mirroring/AllShare Cast settings on your smart device may differ from those listed below and are subject to change based on carrier and software versions. Consult your device’s manual if you do not know where the setting is located. The smart device used in this example is the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. iOS devices do not support screen mirroring.
To set up Screen Mirroring, follow the steps below
Power on your Ultra HD Blu-ray player and wait for the Home Menu to display.
Use the arrow buttons on your Blu-ray remote to highlight Screen Mirroring in the lower right of the Home Screen and then press OK.
The Screen Mirroring screen displays Ready for connection.
If the connection is unsuccessful, the Screen Mirroring function ends within a minute and the player returns to the Home Menu. If this occurs repeat step 2 again.
On your mobile device, locate the Screen Mirror setting and scan for compatible devices. This should take about 30 seconds or less.
Your mobile device will list the available devices. Select your player model number to connect.
Your mobile device's screen will display on your TV via the Blu-ray player.
Exit your device's setting menu. This completes the Screen Mirror setup. To begin using the function, launch a game/picture/web page etc., and then rotate your phone horizontally.
The Screen Mirroring function uses a Wi-Fi direct connection and doesn’t require a network connection from your player or mobile device.
It is normal for your phone main menu not to auto rotate, the phone menu will display vertically on your TV screen. Games, videos, pictures, websites, etc., will appear in full screen depending on their specifications and only when you rotate your phone horizontally.
Any audio from the applications used (game, music, video) will be output through your TV speakers or HTS if one is connected.
If the screen time out setting is enabled on your phone/tab and you phone/tab times out, no image will display on your TV until you access your phone screen again. ‘Mirror’ will continue to display on your player indicating connection status.
If you power off your player or mobile device, the Screen Mirroring function will be disabled. You must pair the mobile device and Blu-ray player each time you want to use the Screen Mirroring function.
Video stuttering or audio drop outs may occur depending on your environment, i.e. the distance your phone is from the player, network bandwidth fluctuations, ‘heavy memory’ applications. A distance of up to 20 feet is supported; the farther the portable device is from the player the more likely you are to experience pixilation and/or lag.
Bluetooth transmissions can interfere with the Screen Mirroring signal. Before using the Screen Mirroring function we strongly recommend that you turn off the Bluetooth function on your smart phone or smart device (table, etc.).
How do I exit the Screen Mirroring function?
There are several ways to exit Screen Mirroring, you can exit by performing any of the following:
Turn off the Screen Mirror/AllShare Cast function on your mobile device.
Power off your Ultra HD Blu-ray player or mobile device.
Press Exit on your Blu-ray remote and when prompted by your player, highlight Yes and then press OK.
