How do I Uninstall or Turn Off an App on my Samsung Galaxy Tab A? (SM-T280)

To make the most of your device's internal storage capacity, you can uninstall or disable apps you don't use. Downloaded apps can be uninstalled, and preloaded apps can be disabled.

Uninstall Downloaded Apps

Apps preloaded on your device cannot be uninstalled. You can only uninstall updates or disable preloaded apps.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps > EDIT.

      

      

  2. Touch Remove on the app you want to uninstall.

      

      

  3. Touch UNINSTALL to finish.

      

      

Using the Application Manager

From the app manager, you can uninstall any apps and app updates you have downloaded.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps >Settings > apps.

      

  2. Touch Application manager.

      

      

  3. Touch the app you want to uninstall in the DOWNLOADED tab.

      

      

  4. Touch UNINSTALL.

      

      

  5. Touch UNINSTALL to confirm.

      

Disable Preloaded Apps

If updates are uninstalled, you may need to apply any updates via Galaxy Apps or Google Play™ Store once you turn the app back ON.

From the Apps menu, you can turn OFF preloaded apps. Once turned OFF, the app will be hidden and will not be accessible until it is turned back ON.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps > EDIT.

      

      

  2. Swipe left or right and touch Remove next to the app you want to turn OFF.

      

      

  3. Touch TURN OFF to continue.

      

      

Using the Application Manager

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps > Settings > apps.

      

  2. Touch Application manager.

      

      

  3. Touch the preloaded app you want to uninstall in the DOWNLOADED tab.

      

      

  4. Touch DISABLE.

      

      

  5. Touch OK to continue.

      

      

  6. If any updates were installed, you will be prompted to uninstall updates and replace with the factory version. Touch UNINSTALL to finish.

      

Turn on Preloaded Apps

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps > Settings > apps.

      

  2. Touch Application manager.

      

      

  3. Swipe to the DISABLED tab.

      

      

  4. Touch the app you want to turn back ON.

      

      

  5. Touch ENABLE to turn app back ON.
