Galaxy J3 - How do I Uninstall and Turn Off Apps on my Samsung Galaxy J3?

To make the most of your device's internal storage capacity, you can uninstall or turn off applications you do not need. Downloaded applications can be uninstalled, and preloaded applications can be turned off.

The available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Uninstall Downloaded Applications

Preloaded applications (applications built into your device) cannot be uninstalled.

You can uninstall any downloaded apps from the Apps Menu.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch EDIT.

  3. Touch the red minus icon on the downloaded application to uninstall.

  4. Touch OK.

   

Using the Application Manager to Uninstall

Alternatively, you can uninstall any downloaded application from the Application Manager. 

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Applications > Application manager.

  3. Touch the application you want to uninstall and touch UNINSTALL.

  4. Touch OK to confirm. 

    Applications preloaded on your device cannot be uninstalled, but you can uninstall any updates you have applied.

Turn Off/Hide Preloaded Applications

You can turn off/hide preloaded applications. Once turned OFF, an application will be hidden and will not be accessible until it is turned back ON.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch EDIT.

  3. Touch the red minus icon on the downloaded application to turn the application off.

  4. A message to turn off the application will appear, touch TURN OFF to confirm. 

   

Using the Application Manager to Turn Off Application

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Applications > Application manager.

  3. Select and touch the application you want to turn OFF. Then, touch DISABLE.

  4. A message to turn off the application will appear, touch DISABLE to confirm. 

  5. Another message may appear. To replace the application to the factory version, touch OK. If you want to simply turn off the application without any changes, touch CANCEL.

    This message will appear if any changes were made to the application previously.

Turn On Preloaded Applications

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Applications > Application manager.

  3. Touch the application you want to turn ON and touch ENABLE.
