Galaxy J3 - How do I Format the microSD Card on my Samsung Galaxy J3?

You can use a microSD (not included) to add additional memory space to your device. Your device has been tested to support up to a 64GB memory card.

The available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Format a microSD Card

When formatting an SD card, backup your music and photo files that are stored on the card because formatting the SD card deletes all the stored data.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Storage > SD card > Format.

  3. To confirm the format, touch FORMAT.

Remove a microSD Card

To prevent damage on the information stored on the memory card, always unmount the card before removing it from the device.

Some apps may stop working until you mount the SD card again.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Storage > SD card.

  3. Touch Unmount to remove your SD card safely.

  4. The word Unmounted will appear under SD card.

  5. Remove the microSD card from your device.
