Opening Microsoft® Documents on Your Galaxy Tab S2 (SM-T710 and SM-T810)

You can view and edit Microsoft Word®, Excel®, PowerPoint®, and OneNote® documents using the suite of Microsoft® apps preinstalled on your device.

Opening Microsoft® Apps

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps > Microsoft Apps.   

  2. Touch the Office® app you want to use. For this example, touch Excel.   

  3. If you already have an Office® account, touch Sign in. Touch Create an account if you need to create an account. Follow the steps on the screen to set up the account on your device.   

  4. Touch the start button, or touch Upgrade now to learn about upgrading to an Office 365™ subscription.   

  5. Touch the Office app you want to use. For this example, we are opening an Excel spreadsheet.

Creating a New Document

Steps may vary depending on the Microsoft® app you are using.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps > Microsoft Apps.   

  2. Touch the Office® app you want to use. For this example, we'll create a new Excel spreadsheet.   

  3. Touch one of the templates on the right side of the screen.    

  4. Create or edit Excel® document. When you are ready to save your work, touch File.   

  5. Touch Save As. Touch the storage location and folder where you want to save the document. Save to your OneDrive® account or This device. Touch Add a place to set up another cloud storage account and save the document in it.   

    Saving to your device means the document will only be accessible on the device.

Opening a Microsoft Document®

To open a Microsoft document® you have saved either on your device or to OneDrive® or another cloud storage service, follow the steps below. 

Opening from Device or Cloud Storage

  1. Touch the Office app you want to use. For this example, we are opening an Excel spreadsheet.

  2. From the Home screen, touch Apps > Microsoft Apps.  

  3. Touch the Office® app you want to use. For this example, open an Excel spreadsheet.   

  4. Touch Open other workbooks.  

  5. Touch the storage location of the document you want to open and then touch the document to open it.   

Opening from Email

  1. Touch the document attachment in the email to open the document.   

  2. Touch SAVE to save the document to your device.

    To access saved attachments, from the Home screen, touch Apps > My Files > Device storage > Download.
