Install the Washer
In order to start using your awesome new washer, you need to install it first. We break it all down for you below - from picking the perfect spot for your washer to controlling it from your phone using the Smart Home app - and everything in between. You'll be ready to wash and go in no time.
Select a Location
We'll help you find the perfect location for your washer. Make sure you keep these requirements in mind:
A solid, level surface without carpeting or flooring that may obstruct ventilation.
No direct sunlight and away from heat sources.
Adequate room for ventilation, wiring, and the door to open freely. Doors on washing machines cannot be reversed.
Ambient temperature always higher than the freezing point (32˚F/0˚C).
Remove the Shipping Bolts
First, you'll need to unpack the product package and remove all shipping bolts. Just follow along below.
Packaging materials can be dangerous to children. Dispose all packaging material (plastic bags, polystyrene, etc.) out of children’s reach.
Loosen all shipping bolts on the rear of the machine using the spanner.
Note: An adjustable wrench or 10 mm opened wrench is required for removing the shipping bolts.
Fill the holes with the supplied plastic bolt caps. Keep the shipping bolts for future use.
Adjust the Leveling Feet
You need a washer that can stand up straight, right? All you need to do is adjust the leveling feet, and you're on your way to using your new washer.
Gently slide the washer into position. Excessive force may damage the leveling feet.
Level the washer by manually adjusting the leveling feet.
When leveling is complete, tighten the nuts using the spanner.
Note: An adjustable wrench or 17 mm open end wrench is required to loosen or tighten the leveling feet.
Connect the Water Hose
Next, let's get you hooked up to your water supply. Follow the steps below to connect the water hose to your washer and then connect it to your faucets.
Make sure you use a new water hose, and there are rubber gaskets (B) inside the couplings (A) at either end of the water hose. A water hose without the gasket may leak.
If there is a water leak, stop using the washer and contact a local Samsung service center. A water leak may cause electric shock.
Do not stretch the water hose by force. If the hose is too short, replace the hose with a longer, high-pressure hose.
To prevent leaks, make sure both water hoses are not bent or kinked. A water leak may cause electric shock.
To connect the water hoses to the faucets:
Connect one end of each water hose to the Hot (B) or Cold (A) tap.
Turn the fittings by hand until they are tight, and then tighten them by just an additional two-thirds of a turn with a spanner. Do not overtighten the fittings, as this can damage them.
When you're done, pull the water hoses up and down to check if they are properly connected.
Put the other ends of the hoses into a bucket and open the taps for 10-15 seconds to remove impurities. When you're done, close the taps.
Connect the other ends of the water hoses to the corresponding inlets on the rear of the machine as specified. Make sure the hot water hose is connected to the hot inlet, and the cold water hose to the cold inlet.
Repeat step 2 above on the other fittings. Make sure both water hoses are connected properly. See the 4C’information code for troubleshooting.
Open both faucets, and check if there is a leak.
Note: If you do not want to use the hot water hose, insert the inlet cap into the hot water inlet. In this case, you must select Tap Cold for the water temperature. All other water indicators turn off.
Note: To prevent water hoses from being bent or kinked, make sure there is at least a 6 inch (150 mm) space between the washer and the rear wall.
Position the Drain Hose
Now it's time to position the drain hose. Don't worry, it's simple, and we'll show you three ways to do it.
The drain hose can be positioned in three ways:
Over the edge of a wash basin: The drain hose must be placed at a height of between 24 in. (60 cm) and 35 in. (90 cm) from the floor. To keep the spout of the drain hose bent, use the supplied plastic hose guide (A). Secure the guide to the wall using a hook to ensure stable drainage.
ln a standpipe or laundry tub: The laundry tub (B) or standpipe (C) must be no shorter than 18 in. (46 cm) and no higher or longer than 96 inches (245 cm). Make sure the drain hose and the standpipe are not airtight.
Hose retainer / E: Tie straps
• Connect the hose guide (A) within 6 in. (15 cm)* of the end of the drain hose. If the drain hose is extended beyond the end of the hose guide, mold or microorganisms could spread inside the washer. The drain hose can be installed up to 96 in. (245 cm) high, but the draining capability can be reduced at the maximum height. Water remaining in the drain system may cause an odour.
• If the drain hose is installed less than 18 in. (46 cm) high, water can be drained during the process due to a siphon phenomenon.
• If this happens, a ‘4C’ information code appears on the display.
Wall standpipe drain system: The drain hose must be placed into a wall standpipe drain system. To keep the end of the drain hose bent, use the supplied hose guide (A). Secure the guide to the wall using a hook to ensure stable drainage.
Finally, it's time to power on your washer! Plug the power cord into an AC 120 V / 60 Hz approved electrical outlet protected by a fuse or circuit breaker and then press Power to turn on the washer.
Install the Smart Home Adapter (applicable models only)
There are so many ways to control your washer remotely: with the Smart Home Adapter (sold separately), your home network, an Android or iOS phone, and the Samsung Smart Home app. First, we'll walk you through installing the Smart Home adapter.
• There are two types of Samsung Smart Home Adapters, one that is used with Samsung Smart TVs and one that is used with Samsung home appliances.
• For your washer, you must purchase the Adapter that is restricted to HD39*1230*W models (home appliances). Using any other adapter can cause system failure.
• Do not insert other USB devices such as USB memory sticks or USB power cables into the port. Incorrect use of the port may damage the Samsung Smart Adapter, causing system failure.
To install the Samsung Smart Home Adapter, follow these steps:
To unlock the adapter cover, press the cover to the left of the word PUSH.
Open the adapter cover to reveal the protective cap of the adapter. Gently pull the cap to the right and lift up to remove.
Insert the SmartHome Adapter into the Adapter port in the correct direction. Make sure the Samsung logo faces forward.
Network Connection (Applicable Models Only)
Feeling lazy? Start the washer from the couch. You can use the optional SmartHome Adapter (sold separately) to control and monitor your washer through the Samsung Smart Home app. Let's make sure your Wi-Fi is up to the task:
Insert the Smart Home Adapter into the Smart Home Adapter port of your washer.
Follow the instructions on your phone to start Samsung Smart Home.
Touch Washer and then touch OK.
The Smart Home App requires your phone to be connected to the same network as your washer. Enter your Wi-Fi password in the AP Password field and then touch Next.
Press Smart Control for 3 seconds until AP appears on the display.
The Smart Home App is now connected to your washer. Touch OK and then touch Skip.
Your washer is now connected to the Smart Home App, allowing you to view the status and control basic features on your washer.
