How Do I Uninstall and Turn Off Apps on My Samsung Galaxy S5 Active? (SM-G870A)

To make the most of your device's internal storage capacity, you can uninstall or turn off apps you do not need. Downloaded apps can be uninstalled, and preloaded apps can be turned off.

The available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Uninstall Downloaded Apps

You can uninstall any downloaded apps from the Apps Menu.

Preloaded apps (apps built into your device) cannot be uninstalled. You can only turn off or hide them.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch the More Options.

  3. Touch Uninstall/disable apps.

  4. Touch the delete on the downloaded app to uninstall.

  5. Touch OK.

   

Using the Application Manager to Uninstall

Alternatively, you can uninstall any downloaded apps from the Application Manager.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Applications > Application manager.

  3. Touch the app you want to uninstall and touch UNINSTALL.

  4. Touch OK to confirm.

    Preloaded apps on your device cannot be uninstalled, but you can uninstall any updates you have applied

Turn Off Preloaded Apps

You can turn on preloaded apps. Once turned OFF, an app will be hidden and will not be accessible until it is turned back ON.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch EDIT.

  3. Touch Uninstall/disable apps.

  4. Touch the delete on the downloaded app to turn the app off.

  5. A message to turn off the app will appear, touch TURN OFF to confirm.

  6. Another message may appear. To replace the app to the factory version, touch OK. If you want to simply turn off the app without any changes, touch CANCEL and follow the next steps.

    This message will appear if any changes were made to the app previously.

   

Using the Application Manager to Turn Off Apps

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Applications > Application manager.

  3. Select and touch the app you want to turn off. Then, touch DISABLE.

  4. A message to turn off the app will appear, touch DISABLE to confirm.

Turn On Preloaded Apps

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Applications > Application manager.

  3. Touch the app you want to turn on and touch ENABLE.
