Samsung Health App Requirements
You can't do a hardcore workout if your body's not up for it. The same thing applies to some apps; they need specific permissions to to perform at their best. To use Samsung Health, there are some requirements and permissions your phone needs to have. Check the information below to see if your phone meets the mark and learn why Samsung Health needs certain permissions.
There are no required permissions for Samsung Health. However, you can allow optional permissions to improve your experience.
Software Requirement and Permissions
Samsung Health can run on Android 5.0 and newer, but for the best experience, we recommend using at least Android 6.0.
Telephone: Used to check identification information that is unique to your device. It helps provide app updates and app analysis information.
Camera: The camera is used for several different things. When you add a friend using the Together feature, you can use the camera to scan a QR code. You can also use the camera to take photos of foods, recognize numbers on a blood glucose meter/blood pressure monitor, or video chat while receiving a telehealth service (available in some countries only).
Microphone: You can use your phone's microphone to speak with someone while receiving a telehealth service (available in some countries only).
Location: Your location data is collected during exercises that use GPS. You can find pharmacies or doctors using the Experts feature (available in some countries only).
Contacts: When using the Together feature, you can find friends using the Contacts on your phone.
Body sensors: Used to measure heart rate, oxygen saturation, and stress levels.
SMS: Used for phone number verification when using the Together feature.
Storage: You can import/export your exercise data, save exercise photos, save/load food photos, and upload photos saved while receiving a telehealth service (available in some countries only).
