Manage Data Usage on AT&T Galaxy S8 & S8+

Aw, man. It’s the middle of the month and you receive that data plan text saying you only have 10 percent data remaining. Luckily, you can prevent the dreaded data drain by keeping tabs on your data usage and setting limits to conserve data. Your S8 and S8+ make it a breeze with three useful settings.

Manage Your Data Usage

At any point in time, do you know how much data you have left? Track your data usage to make sure you never run out. Read on to learn how.

Monitor Your Data Usage

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search, and then search for and touch Data usage.

  3. To view your data usage over the mobile network, touch Mobile data usage.

  4. To view your data usage over Wi-Fi networks, touch Wi-Fi data usage.

   

Turn Data Saver On or Off

Meet your new secret weapon. Data Saver prevents some apps from sending or receiving data in the background. Rest assured, you’re not wasting any precious data. What a relief!

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search, and then search for and touch Data saver.

  3. To enable Data saver, touch the slider.

    To exclude apps from Data saver, touch Allow app while Data saver on.

  4. To disable Data saver, touch the slider again.

   

Data Usage Settings

Your phone's got more tricks up its sleeve when it comes to avoiding a data crunch. Data Usage settings tell you when you’re nearing the end of your billing cycle and warn you when data is running low. Check it out:

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search and then search for and touch Data usage.

  3. Touch Bill cycle.

  4. The following settings are available:

  • Start billing cycle on - Set the date when your billing cycle starts to accurately keep track of your mobile data usage.

  • Data warning - You will receive a warning when there is only a specified amount of data left on your billing cycle.

  • Data limit - Mobile data will be disabled after a specified amount of data has been used.

  • Data limit - Set the amount of data you can use before mobile data is disabled.
