Connect Your 2017 UHD Blu-ray Player to a Soundbar

When connecting your UHD Blu-ray player to an Soundbar, it is important to know if your Soundbar supports 4K Pass-through. If your Soundbar does not support 4K Pass-through, and the UHD Blu-ray player is not connected properly, you will receive an error message when trying to play a 4k Blu-ray disc.

Connecting to a Soundbar that Supports Pass Through

This connection requires (2) HDMI cables (not included).

  1. Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT 1 port of the Blu-ray player to the HDMI IN port of your Soundbar.

    The number of HDMI out ports on your Blu-ray player may vary depending on your model.

  2. Connect another HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT port of your Soundbar to the HDMI IN port of your TV.

  3. Power on your Soundbar and change the source on your Soundbar to HDMI.

  4. Power on your TV and change the source on your TV to the HDMI port that you connected the Soundbar to.

Connecting to a Soundbar that Does Not Support Pass Through

This connection requires (2) HDMI cables (not included) and is only supported by models with an HDMI OUT 2 (Audio Only).

  1. Connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT 1 port of the Blu-ray player to the HDMI IN port of your TV.

  2. Connect another HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT 2 port of the Blu-ray player to the HDMI IN port of your Soundbar.

    HDMI OUT 2 only outputs Audio and does not output a Video signal.

  3. Power on your Soundbar and change the source on your Soundbar to HDMI.

  4. Power on your TV and change the source on your TV to the HDMI port that you connected the UHD Blu-ray to.

Connecting to a Soundbar with a Digital Optical Cable

This connection requires (1) HDMI cable (not included) and (1) Digital Optical cable (not included).

  1. Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT 1 port of the Blu-ray player to an HDMI IN port of your TV.

  2. Connect a digital optical cable to the OPTICAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUT port of the Blu-ray player.

  3. Connect the other end of the digital optical cable to the DIGITAL OPTICAL IN port of your Soundbar.

  4. Power on your Soundbar and change the source on your Soundbar to D.IN.

  5. Power on your TV and change the source on your TV to the HDMI port that you connected the Soundbar to.

If you connect a Soundbar to the player's OPTICAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUT port, the Soundbar's audio reproduction may not synchronize with the TV. To sync your audio with the TV,  Click Here.
