Disable Auto Rotate on Galaxy S6

When switching between viewing a panoramic photo or reading a listicle, the S6 has a built-in feature that automatically rotates your screen to adjust to your needs. Auto Rotate uses an internal sensor to detect which way your phone is rotating and then adjusts your screen accordingly. If you're using your S6 lying down on the sofa on a lazy Sunday afternoon, turn off Auto Rotate to lock your screen in portrait mode.

The available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Auto Rotate

Maybe you want to get a better look at that photo without your phone tilting on you. Learn how to turn off Auto Rotate.

Auto Rotate is not available on all apps.

  1. To open the Notification Panel, swipe down from the top of the screen.

  2. To display all of the Quick Settings, swipe down again.

  3. To turn the rotation off, touch Auto Rotate in the Quick Settings Panel.

Depending on the screen orientation when touching Auto rotate, the icon changes the screen to either Landscape or Portrait.
