Connect to Wi-Fi on Galaxy S6

When you're at home, work, or somewhere with Internet, turn on your Wi-Fi and connect to a network to save your mobile data. Browse your favorite site, stream music, shop online and more using a Wi-Fi connection so you don't burn through all your data. In case you didn't know, Wi-Fi is a wireless connectivity feature that lets you connect Wi-Fi enabled devices like your phone to share information or to connect to the internet.

The available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Connect to Wi-Fi

Let's get started by connecting to a Wi-Fi network. You'll be up and running in no time. Just follow these easy steps:

If you are not connected to your Wi-Fi, make sure you check your Wi-Fi password and try again.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.  

  2. Touch Search, then search for and select Wi-Fi.  

  3. Touch your Wi-Fi network.   

  4. If required, enter the password and then touch CONNECT.  

    If a password is not required, you can simply touch CONNECT.

  5. After Wi-Fi is connected, the Wi-Fi icon will appear in the status bar.

Turn Wi-Fi On or Off

If you're in an area with good cellular reception and you don't want to use Wi-Fi, you can turn it off. Read on to learn how to turn it on and off anytime you want.

  1. To access your Wi-Fi, open the Notification Panel by swiping down from the top of your screen.  

  2. To turn the Wi-Fi on or off, touch Wi-Fi.  

    After your Wi-Fi has been connected, your phone will automatically scan and connect to any previously connected network.
