Error Code on a Refrigerator

Error codes are there to let you know your refrigerator needs some attention. In many cases, some simple troubleshooting will resolve the cause of the error. These are the error codes that can be resolved with troubleshooting.

OF OF

If your display is showing OF OF or OFF OFF, it is in Demo or Display Mode. This mode is for retailers to be able display refrigerators in-store, without running the sealed system that cools the fridge and freezer.

To turn off Demo Mode on Family Hub:

  1. Open the Fridge Manager > Fridge Settings menu.

  2. Touch the slider next to Cooling Off.

  3. A confirmation dialogue displays. Touch and hold PROCEED for 3 seconds and Cooling Off mode will be disabled.

Error Code PC ER (PCB Error)

If this code occurs, perform the following:

  1. Unplug the refrigerator or turn off power at the circuit breaker.

  2. Disconnect and reconnect the wire harness above the door.

  3. Restore power to the unit.

If the code returns, service is required. You can contact us to set up service.

Error Code 41C (Main PBA Communication Error)

If this occurs on 3-Door French Door Family Hub Models, perform the following:

  1. Confirm the latest software update has been downloaded and installed.

  2. The first time the error occurs after the update, touch OK.

If the error occurs more than once after the update, service is required. Contact us to set up service.

Error Codes 88 88, 83E, 85E, or 86E

Do not unplug the refrigerator a second time or attempt any interaction with the panel to try to remove the error code. This may make it harder for a technician to diagnose and correct the issue.

If any of these codes occur, unplug the refrigerator or turn off power at the circuit breaker for 60 seconds, and then power it back on.

If the code returns, service is required. You can contact us to set up the service.

Other Error Codes

All other error codes require service if displayed.

Do not unplug the refrigerator or attempt any interaction with the panel to try to remove the error code. This does not actually fix the problem that the error code is reporting, and may make it harder for a technician to diagnose and correct the issue.

  • If all of the icons on the display are flashing after the refrigerator is being plugged in, or after a power outage, this is normal. The fridge is running a self-diagnostic test.

  • If a component such as an ice maker or light is removed from the refrigerator, this can result in an error code over time. Unplugging the unit, re-installing the missing part(s), and then plugging the unit back will clear the code.

  • Family Hub models have a Self Check function to report past error codes that may have been dismissed and or check for any current error codes.
