Galaxy Book S gets BSOD or doesn't work when using SD card

Samsung is aware of instances where a limited number of Galaxy Book S devices may experience an issue when inserting an SD card. If affected, a blue screen will suddenly appear and the device will not work properly. Although a future fix will be released, a temporary workaround is available now.

Galaxy Book S gets BSOD or doesn't work when using SD card

Note
Not every model needs to perform these steps. We recommend only to perform them if you have been affected by the issue.

Remove the SD card and reboot the computer.

Remove the SD card, then press and hold the Power button for more than 12 seconds to reboot the computer.

Check the version of the SD host adapter on your computer.

  1. Right click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Look for SD host adapters > Qualcomm SoC Secure Digital host controller. Right click it and select Properties.
  3. If the Driver Version is 10.0.19041.488, continue. Otherwise the model is not affected.

Uninstall Windows Update KB4571756.

  1. Right click the Start button and select Settings.
  2. Select Update & Security, then View update history, then click Uninstall updates.
  3. To easily find the correct update to uninstall, use the search box in the top right and enter in KB4571756.
  4. Select KB4571756 and then click Uninstall.

Wait for an update.

Whether this workaround fixes the issue for you or not, please wait for the future update to be released through the Windows Update system. Service is not required.
