The Battery protection feature helps maintain battery life for longer by managing the battery charge status.
When you use this feature, you can adjust the charging method and charging limit to reduce strain on the battery. Understanding what may happen or appear when Battery protection is active can help you use your device with more confidence.

※ Menu names or operating methods may vary depending on the device and software version.

- Basic (default):
Charging stops when the battery reaches 100%, and charging starts again when the battery reaches 95%.

- Maximum:
Charging stops when the battery reaches the set charging limit (80 / 85 / 90 / 95%). Setting a lower charging limit can help manage battery life more effectively.

- Sleep time protection:
During sleep, charging stops at 80% and charges to 100% just before you wake up.

※ If you agree to Customisation Service and related permissions, Sleep time protection may be provided as the default option.
※ The feature to select the charging limit (80 / 85 / 90 / 95%) in Maximum mode is provided from One UI 7.0.

Mode operation guide

Basic mode

Basic mode helps protect the battery by limiting additional charging after the battery is charged to 100%.

- Charging stops when the battery reaches 100%.
- After that, the device runs directly on charger power without charging the battery further.
- If you use the device or apps run in the background, the battery level may decrease.
- When the battery reaches 95%, charging automatically starts again. (This may vary depending on the device and environment.)

※ Values may vary depending on the device, software version, charger (pad), and usage environment.
※ For a detailed example, refer to Frequently Asked Question Q1.

Maximum mode

Maximum mode manages battery life by charging only up to the charging limit set by the user.

- The battery charges only up to the selected charging limit (80/85/90/95%).
- After reaching the limit, the device runs directly on charger power.
- If power consumption is higher, the battery level may temporarily decrease.
- When the battery decreases by about 2% from the selected charging limit, charging automatically starts again. (This may vary depending on the device, software version, and usage environment.)

※ If you connect the charger when the current battery level is equal to or higher than the selected limit, the current battery level is maintained without additional charging.

Sleep time protection

Sleep time protection adjusts the charging speed based on the user's sleep pattern.

- During sleep time, charging stops at about 80%.
- Charging is adjusted to reach 100% just before you wake up.
- This helps support battery life by preventing the battery from staying at 100% for a long time overnight.

※ If your sleep pattern is irregular, the feature may not work.
※ Learning your sleep pattern generally takes about 2 weeks. (If a pattern was formed on a previous device, it may be applied faster.)
※ Agreement to Customisation Service and related permission settings are required.
※ If you turn off Customisation Service consent and related permissions, or in some environments (for example, multi-user mode), the feature may automatically switch to Basic mode.
