Galaxy XCover Pro: Device Layout & Functions

The Galaxy XCover Pro is designed to be durable and made for the outdoors. The two XCover Key design lets you customise access to the apps you need with a press. Dual LED can help you in low-light situations, while the Service LED flashes when receiving messages. And with POGO charging support, it's easy to keep your XCover Pro ready to go. Follow the below guide for more information regarding the device layout and functions of the Galaxy XCover Pro.

Hard keys Layout

Volume key

• Press to adjust the device volume.

Side key

• When the device is off, press and hold to turn it on.

• Press to turn on or lock the screen.

• Press and hold to start a conversation with Bixby. Check out our page Using Bixby Voice on my Samsung Phone for more information.

• Press twice or press and hold to launch the app or feature you set.

• Place your finger on the Side key to register your fingerprints.

Side key + Volume Down key

  •  Press simultaneously to capture a screenshot.
  • • Press and hold simultaneously to turn off the device. 

XCover key

•  Press or press and hold to launch preset apps

Top key

• Press or press and hold to launch preset apps.

Changing the Battery

1 Remove the back cover.

Do not bend or twist the back cover excessively. Doing so may damage the cover.

2 Carefully pull out the battery
3 Insert the battery with the battery’s gold-coloured contacts properly aligned with the device’s contacts.
4 Align the cover to the back of the phone and firmly press to hold in place

Ensure that the back cover is closed tightly to prevent water and dust from entering the device. Open or loose back cover may allow water and dust to enter the device and cause damage.

Installing the SIM card

1 Remove the back cover and battery
2 Insert the nano SIM card with the gold-coloured contacts facing downwards

Do not insert a memory card into the SIM card slot. If a memory card happens to be lodged in the SIM card slot, take the device to a Samsung Service Centre to remove the memory card.

3 Align the cover to the back of the phone and firmly press to hold in place

Installing the Memory card (microSD card)

1 Remove the back cover and battery
2 Insert the nano SIM card with the gold-coloured contacts facing downwards
3 Align the cover to the back of the phone and firmly press to hold in place

Charging the Battery

It is recommended to charge the battery before using it for the first time or when it has been unused for extended periods. Please ensure you charge your device only with Samsung approved chargers and cables. Unapproved chargers and cables could damage your device. The Galaxy XCover Pro has an in-built fast charging feature, you can easily enable this by heading into your Settings Device Care Battery Charging > Toggle on Fast charging.

1 Connect the USB cable to the USB power adaptor.
2 Plug the USB cable into the device’s multipurpose jack.
3 Plug the USB power adaptor into an electric socket.
4 After fully charging, disconnect the charger from the device. Then, unplug the chargerfrom the electric socket.

Powering the Device On / Off

There are a few different ways to Power off your Galaxy XCover Pro device - either you can swipe down to access your Quick Panel, hold down the hard keys or by using Bixby Voice. Click on the below drop down menus to learn all the different ways to power off your device.

Using the Quick Panel
1 Swipe down to access your Quick Settings and tap on the Power Icon button.

Using the Hard Keys

On Galaxy XCover Pro, you can remap the power off and Bixby menu by pressing and holding the Side key. If you are pressing the side key and noticing that only Bixby is being launched, you may need to customise your Side key functions.

1 Launch Settings > Advanced Features
2 Tap on Side Key
3 Under Press and Hold, select Power off menu
1 Press and hold the Side and Volume down keys.
2 Tap on Power Off
Using Bixby Voice

If you would like to use Bixby Voice to power off your device, it is important to remember that you will need to sign into your Samsung Account, an internet connection either mobile data or a Wi-Fi connection and completely setup Bixby Voice.

1 Launch Bixby by saying Hi, Bixby
2 Tell Bixby to "Turn off my phone", you will be able to confirm the command by saying Yes or tapping the Power off button. Once confirmed, your Galaxy XCover Pro will shut down.
