How to register home appliances with the SmartThings app

SmartThings is an integrated platform that allows you to control your Samsung smart devices, including home appliances, from one convenient location. Registering your home appliances in the SmartThings app allows you to access and control them remotely, set up automated routines, and receive notifications and alerts. In this guide, we will take you through the step-by-step process of registering your home appliances in the SmartThings app, making it easy for you to manage your home devices from anywhere.

Add home appliances to SmartThings

1 To register your home appliance with SmartThings, make sure it is turned on.
2 Navigate to and open the SmartThings app on your phone.
3 Tap the Devices tab (at the bottom of the screen), and then tap the Add icon (the plus sign).

4 SmartThings offers multiple options to register your home appliances.

5 Choose the option that best suits your preference:

Scan QR code: Tap Scan, and then scan the QR code of the appliance you want to connect. The app will automatically recognize the code and start the registration process.

Scan for nearby devices: If the device uses Bluetooth, tap Scan under "Scan for nearby devices" and if your device appears, select its name.

By device type: If your device isn't detected, you can add it manually. If it's a Samsung product, tap By device type to select the type of device.

6 If required, tap Start.
7 Some home appliances may require you to set up AP (access point) mode before they can be registered with the SmartThings app. To do this, follow the instructions provided on your phone's screen. This may involve pressing a specific button or entering a code on your appliance's control panel.
8 Please wait until the registration process is completed.
9 If required, set the name of the home appliance and choose the location and room. Then, tap Done.
10 You can easily control your home appliances from the SmartThings app by accessing their specific remote control screens. This screen allows you to manage various features and settings of your connected appliances, giving you more control over their operation.
