Samsung Dishwasher - Appliance does not start or fill with water
When a cycle is selected, the dishwasher will first attempt to drain excess water left over from previous cycles. This will cause the dishwasher to sound like it is working, although no water is actually filling the unit yet. This is normal. After the unit runs a drain cycle (approximately 35 seconds), it will then proceed with the selected wash cycle. If this is not what's happening, your dishwasher may have Child Lock or Delay Start enabled.
The provided information refers to dishwashers sold in Canada. The available settings and options may differ for appliances sold in other countries.
Since you are trying to wash dishes right now, you want to make sure Delay Start isn't selected. This sets the dishwasher to wait until the set time has passed before starting.
When the Start button is held for more than 3 seconds, the cycle is cancelled and the dishwasher drains. If this happens, a blinking 1 will be on the display. If you see this, press the Start button to resume the cycle.
