Routine fridge maintenance is a simple but important habit that helps your Samsung refrigerator run efficiently and keep your food fresh. By regularly cleaning key areas, checking temperatures, and inspecting the water filter, you can extend the life of your appliance and help reduce overall energy use.

Note: While the advice in this guide applies to all Samsung refrigerators, it has been written with our Canadian customers in mind.

Person cleaning the inside of an open Samsung refrigerator.

Giving your refrigerator a deep clean every six months will help keep it in top shape. Because there are many nooks and crannies where spills and messes can hide, it’s best to remove all the food from inside your refrigerator so you can reach every area and clean thoroughly.

A clean water filter is essential for fresh, great-tasting water. We recommend replacing the filter every six months or sooner if your household uses a lot of water. Your refrigerator’s filter indicator light will let you know when it’s time for a replacement and should be reset once the new filter is installed.

Many Samsung refrigerators include crisper drawers with adjustable humidity settings. These controls help keep fruits and vegetables from spoiling by creating the right environment for each type of produce. Depending on what you’re storing, you can adjust the setting to maintain freshness and extend the life of your food.

Seasonal temperature changes can impact how your refrigerator performs. Warmer weather brings warmer indoor air, which enters the fridge each time the door opens and can make it work harder to stay cool. Many common seasonal issues can be minimized simply by keeping your refrigerator clean and well-maintained throughout the year.
