To achieve the best results during laundry, it's crucial to pay attention to the load size in your washing machine. Both small, heavy items and large, lightweight items can overload your machine, affecting cleaning performance and potentially causing issues with your appliance. It's important to balance your laundry load correctly.

Note: This information is tailored for Samsung washers sold in Canada.

The capacity of your washer, measured in cubic feet, dictates the maximum weight it can handle. Estimating your laundry load's weight is a practical approach to determining the right size. The minimum recommended load is 3 pounds (1.36 kg).

Small Load: The tub is about 1/3 full, equating to 1 pound (450 g) of laundry per cubic foot of washer capacity.

Medium Load: The tub is about 1/2 full, or 2 pounds (900 g) of laundry per cubic foot of washer capacity.

Large Load: The tub is about 3/4 full, or 3 pounds (1.36 kg) of laundry per cubic foot of washer capacity.

Note: For a washing machine with a 4.0 cubic feet capacity, a 4-pound (1.8 kg) load is small, an 8-pound (3.6 kg) load is medium, and a 12-pound (5.4 kg) load is large.

If weighing your laundry isn't feasible, you can approximate the weight based on common clothing items:

Bath towels: Approximately 1.5 pounds (680 g) each.

Full-size bed sheets: About 1.25 pounds (570 g).

Large sweatshirts: Roughly 1 pound (450 g).

Extra-large shirts: About half a pound (230 g) each.

Your washer automatically adjusts the water level, washing time, rinse counts, and spin speeds based on the detected weight of the load and the selected cycle.

When loading your washer, avoid packing or compressing the items. Clothes should be loosely piled with space to move. Large items, like comforters and blankets, should fit snugly without being cramped. For heavy materials, such as wool, limit the weight to 4.4 pounds (2 kg) or less, and for comforters and blankets, to 6.6 pounds (3 kg) or less.
