Manage call settings on your Galaxy phone

Customizing call settings on your Galaxy phone helps you tailor your calling experience to your needs. Whether you want to block unwanted calls, enable call recording or manage call forwarding, this guide walks you through the key options available on your device.

Note: The screens and settings on your device may vary depending on your wireless provider and software version.

Follow these steps to access call settings on your Galaxy phone:

1 Open the Phone app from the Home screen on your Galaxy phone.

2 Tap the More options icon (three vertical dots) in the top right corner of the screen.

3 Tap Settings.

4 Different options will be available, including:
  • Block numbers: Manage blocked phone numbers and prevent unwanted calls.
  • Spam protection: Enable tools that help identify and filter suspected spam calls.
  • Wi-Fi calling: Make and receive calls over a Wi-Fi network when cellular coverage is limited.
  • Call assist features: Access additional tools designed to enhance your calling experience.

Note: Available features may vary depending on your wireless provider and software version.

You can block unwanted calls by blocking calls from unknown numbers or by entering a specific number manually.

1 Open the Phone app from the Home screen on your Galaxy phone.
2 Tap the More options icon (three vertical dots) in the top right corner of the screen, then tap Settings.
3 Tap Block numbers.

4 Tap the switch next to “Block calls from unknown numbers” to block calls from unknown or unspecified numbers.

5 To block a specific number, tap the Add phone number field, enter the number, then tap the Add icon to add it to your blocked list.

6 Alternatively, tap Recents, Messages, or Contacts to select a number to block.

You can turn on spam protection to help filter suspected spam calls.

1 Open the Phone app from the Home screen on your Galaxy phone.
2 Tap the More options icon (three vertical dots) in the top right corner of the screen, then tap Settings.
3 Turn on the switch next to “Caller ID and spam protection” to enable the feature.

4 Review the terms of service and privacy policy, then tap Agree.

5 Tap Caller ID and spam protection to view additional options.
6 Turn on the switch next to “Block spam and scam calls”, then choose your preferred option:

  • Block all spam and scam calls: Block all identified spam and scam calls.
  • Only block high-risk scam calls: Block only calls identified as high risk, allowing other spam calls to come through.
7 When your phone rings, tap Block number or Report number at the bottom of the screen during or after the call, then choose one of the following options:
  • To block a number, tap Block number to add it to your blocked call list.
  • To report a fraudulent call, tap Report number, select a category, and add a comment if needed. Tap Report when finished.
