PC screen on a Samsung TV

If you’ve ever wished your TV could double as your computer or laptop, you’ve got your wish with your Samsung Smart TV. When you need to access Microsoft Office 365 or share your PC’s screen, you can use the Remote Access function on your TV.

You can perform a variety of functions on your TV. This includes accessing your PC, screen mirroring your PC, and even using Microsoft Office 365. These are the three connection methods available in the Remote Access menu.

Note: This feature may not be available on all TV models. Your TV and computer must be connected to a network.

The Workspace function allows you to control your PC from your TV. You will need to know your PC's correct IP address, username, and password in order to use this feature. Make sure your keyboard and mouse are connected to the TV, and follow the instructions below.

  1. Before proceeding, make sure your PC or Mac is turned on and that remote access is enabled on your PC or Mac.
Note: If you are unable to turn on remote access, it means that your current software version does not support this feature.

  2. When you're ready, press the Home button on your TV remote, and then navigate to and select Menu.

  3. Navigate to and select Connected Devices, and then select Workspace.

The following are the supported conditions for using Workspace:

  • Windows: Only supported by Windows 7 Professional or higher with RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol), except Win10 Home.

  • MAC: Only supported by MAC OSX 10.5 or higher with VNC (Virtual Network Computing for Mac).

Note: If the connection to a MAC is slow, you may need to use a lower resolution. Audio is not supported with VNC. Linux is not supported.

Remote Access also comes equipped with Wi-Fi Direct, which facilitates seamless screen sharing between TVs and PCs. You can use the following directions to share your PC's screen on your TV, or vice versa.

  1. On your PC, select Management Center or Device in the notification area of the taskbar.

  2. Select Connect or Project, and then choose your TV to complete the connection.
Note: Screen Sharing is only supported by Windows 10 Professional or higher versions. There is no resolution limit, since the PC screen is captured in real time.
