Samsung TV - Update the Software

TV software updates are released to add new apps and functions, and sometimes fix bugs or glitches. Whether you have The Frame, a QLED, or any other Samsung Smart TV, keeping your software up to date is very important. To get the most out of your TV, download the updates as soon as they become available over the Internet or by using a USB thumb drive.

The provided information refers to TVs sold in Canada. The available settings and options may differ for devices sold in other countries.

General informationClick to Expand
  • Do not turn off the TV until the update is complete.
  • Updates generally take a few minutes, if it fails to update, please Contact Us.
  • The TV will turn off and on automatically after completing a software update.
  • Video and audio settings may be reset to their default settings after a software update.

Update Over the InternetClick to Expand

From Settings > Support > Software Update, and then select Update Now. New updates will be downloaded and installed, but if there aren't any new updates, select OK to exit.

Turn Auto Update On to automatically start a software update when available.

Update Using USBClick to Expand
1 The latest software can be downloaded from the product's support page. Download the software file on your computer.
Update Using USB
2 You must extract the software file onto an USB thumb drive.
3 Connect the USB thumb drive containing the software upgrade into a USB port on your TV.
4 From Settings select Support , and then Software Update .
5 Select Update Now , and then select Yes . Your TV will search the USB thumb drive for update files.
6 Follow the on-screen instructions to install the updated software.
