Set Up and Connect a Tracker

Connect a SmartThings Tracker on the SmartThings app

Maybe you always forget where you parked your car. Or, maybe you worry about an elderly relative. If that's the case, you should set up your SmartThings tracker. Once you connect it to your phone and the SmartThings app, you can keep tabs on everything and everyone. You can also reset it or delete the tracker at any time.

Connect Your Tracker to Your Phone

To keep track of people or items, your SmartThings tracker uses advanced technology. But don't worry, setting it up is simple. Follow these steps to connect the tracker to your phone and your SmartThings account.

Navigate to and open the SmartThings app. Then, touch Menu, and navigate to the desired Location. Touch Devices, and then touch Add Add device. Touch Tracker, choose the desired location and then touch NEXT. Choose a room, and then follow the on-screen prompts. Touch Done

Once it's connected, you can create custom automation using the tracker and set locations.

Delete and Reset Your Tracker

If you want to reset your tracker, you don't need to press a button or pull a tab. You just need to delete it from SmartThings. This will automatically activate the reset process.

Navigate to and open the SmartThings app. Touch Menu, and then navigate to the Location with the Tracker. Touch Devices, and then touch More Options > Edit. Touch Remove next to the Tracker you wish to remove. Touch Delete > Done
