Print from your Galaxy phone or tablet

Galaxy Note 10 displaying print settings next to a printer

We keep everything on our phones these days, but sometimes it’s nice to have a physical copy. Your phone offers multiple ways to print emails, documents, or your favorite photos to share with your friends. Print wirelessly from your phone if you can’t connect to a printer or use Samsung DeX if you’re working on a presentation for school.

Note: Most printers will need to be configured to work wirelessly. Contact your printer's manufacturer for help setting up your printer.

Set up your printer, plugins, and services

Whether you are printing wirelessly or connecting to your printer with a cable, you will need to have the appropriate plugin apps on your phone. Installed plugins will be saved to your device and can be activated using the Printing Home screen.

Navigate to Settings, and then search for and select Printing. Tap Printing again to see your installed printer services, which can be turned on and off by tapping the switch next to each one.

To install a new printing service, tap Download plugin to open the Google Play store. Select the correct plugin app for the printer you wish to use, and then tap Install. If you aren't sure which one to choose, contact your printer's manufacturer for help.

Printing options in Settings

If you are using a USB printer, use an OTG adapter and appropriate USB cable to plug directly into your phone's charging port, or you can plug the printer into one of the USB ports on your DeX Dock or Pad if you are using DeX mode.

Many printers may also work without downloading a plugin. From the Printing Home screen, tap Default Print Service, and then tap the switch to turn it on. A list of compatible devices will populate, just tap the one you’d like to use. Some otherwise compatible printers may need manual setup. Tap More options (the three vertical dots) in the upper right corner, and then tap Add printer to enter the printer’s IP address.

Print from your phone or tablet

Printing from your device will work the same way, even if it looks a little different in DeX mode.

  1. Open the content you’d like to print. Not all apps support printing their content, but there are many apps available on the Play Store that do support printing.

  2. In most apps tap More options (the three vertical dots) in the upper right corner. Some apps (like Word) have their own print menus. Other apps will require you to tap Share and then tap Print.

  3. Tap Print and then select your printer, the paper size and number of copies.

  4. Tap the Print icon. Depending on your printer you may have additional options.
