What to do when your Samsung refrigerator does not dispense water?

Last Update date : 2024-03-27

There are various factors on why the Samsung refrigerator would not dispense water from the water dispenser.

Water dispenser

For most refrigerators, you can activate or deactivate the Control Lock feature by pressing and holding the Control Lock button for over 3 seconds.

After confirming that your dispenser isn't locked, choose between Water, Cubed Ice, or Crushed Ice (though certain models may have a separate lever for water and ice). When dispensing water, ensure that the Water option is selected.

Refer to your user manual for model-specific instructions.

1 If water dispenses once the water filter is removed.

To replace the water filter, please consult our guide on replacing the water filter for detailed instructions.

2 If water still doesn't dispense despite removing the water filter, please verify the following:
  • The refrigerator's water line is properly connected.

  • The water line is turned on and fully open.

  • If the refrigerator doors were recently removed, ensure that the water line coupling above the door has been correctly reconnected.

Note: It's advisable to have the water line installed by a professional installer. However, if you choose to do it yourself, please carefully follow the instructions provided in the user manual.

This procedure is usually required only if the water filter has been recently replaced or if the water line has been recently connected.

To eliminate air from the water line, press and hold the dispenser lever and try to dispense water for 5 minutes.

  • If water starts to flow, continue until all spluttering ceases and the stream becomes steady (this may require dispensing up to 2-3 gallons of water).

Note:

  • Some models feature two water lines for connection. If these lines are cross-connected, the water and ice dispensing functions may not operate correctly. If your dispenser has not worked since installation and you have one of these models, ensure to check these lines for proper connection.
