How to use Samsung News on your Galaxy phone

What is Samsung News?

Samsung News is your newest destination for trending, breaking, and top news stories-delivered by trusted media partners. On supported devices, Samsung News becomes available through an update to Samsung Free and can be customised by language, region, and personal interest.

Note: Samsung News is available on Galaxy devices running Android 9.0 (P OS) or later, with a minimum of 4GB RAM.

How to launch Samsung News

You can open Samsung News in either of the following ways:

 

From the Apps screen:
Locate and open the Samsung News app from your device’s Apps screen.

 

By swiping right from the Home screen
You can also configure Samsung News as the panel that appears when swiping right on the Home screen. Here's how:

Step 1

Tap and hold an empty area on the Home screen.

Swipe to the leftmost page.

Step 3

Select Samsung News from the options.

Once selected, Samsung News will open automatically when you swipe right from the Home screen.

You can also turn off Samsung News if you no longer want to use it. Go back to the Media page settings and tap Switch to turn it off.

Note:

  • To use Samsung News, you must sign in with a Samsung account. If you don’t have one, you can create it during the initial setup.

  • Device screenshots and menus may vary depending on the device model and software version.

How to view news from other countries or in different languages

To customise your news feed:

Tap the More options button (three dots) in the upper right corner.

Choose Settings from the dropdown menu.

Select your desired Language and region.

How to follow topics and publishers

Follow specific topics and news sources to receive more personalised content in your feed.

1 Select the Following tab in the bottom navigation.
2 Select your preferred Locations, Topics and Publisher Sources.

How to hide articles from unwanted publications

If you prefer not to view articles from certain publishers:

1 Find an article from the publisher you wish to hide.
2 Tap on the More Options Icon (Three Dots) on the Article.
3 Choose Hide stories from this source.
Enabling Hide stories

You can always restore hidden sources from Samsung News > Settings > Hidden sources and topics.

How to display weather information in Samsung News

To show the weather forecast within Samsung News:

1 Open Samsung News > Settings.
2 Toggle on Show Weather Forecast

Note: Weather data is provided based on your Samsung Weather app settings.
