This 2TB SSD has me loading into my homescreen in record times. Unlike the days of using HDD & Sata SSD's, this Evo NVME is like the dawning of a new era. For myself as a enthusiast PC gamer, it's more than ideal, it's necessary. My system now sports 3 Samsung SSD's. A 4tb 990 Pro, a 2tb 990 Pro & now the 2tb Evo. The SSD was intuitive to install, although we have some prior experience in building PCs so that helped in knowing what to do. Once the device was installed and the entire computer was running there were no issues observed and the device appeared to meet its claims. It stays cool enough without a heat sink. Heat sink may be useful for a more compact device though. After 5 years, its still works fine and hasn't had any errors. The speed that it has, upload and download, are pretty accurate. As long as its less than about 80% to 90% full, your downloads are extremely fast with no delays or buffer time. It makes getting new content or games fast and easy in minimal time and it's basically plug and play for instalation. The cost seems a bit high, but the support and quality that come with it is better than the majority of other products, if not all of them.

Early on, there was a well-documented firmware issue that required an immediate update to prevent rapid health degradation, which was definitely a scare at the time. ​Thankfully, the issue was fully resolved via a firmware patch, and newer production models likely come with the fix pre-installed right out of the box. Once updated, it performs exceptionally well. Just be sure to check Samsung Magician when setting it up to verify your firmware is up to date!

It is incredibly versatile and runs very cool, making it perfect if you are putting it into a tight space without a bulky heatsink. It also uniquely supports both PCIe 4.0 and PCIe 5.0 connections which i think is cool....literally lol. But there is a downside to this. ​The flaws here are a bit more glaring. It uses a DRAM-less design, so it borrows your system memory to map files, which makes it slower at finding data than the PRO. In addition, its "PCIe 5.0" capability is mostly a gimmick. It only uses two lanes, so it ultimately performs just like an average PCIe 4.0 drive anyway. All in all it is reliable if your gaming or just looking to run high resolution programs.

Even when I upgraded my cpu I just added more multi-tasking. I'd recommend this card without hesitation even for gamers. True gen 5 may not be utilized but gen 5 is still rarely used on boards anyways and you wouldn't be unhappy with the speeds of this card. Specially if you get this on sale. Can't beat price per performance per watt.

They've always worked flawlessly without issues so I've ended up buying 3 more. I gave some as gifts to friends but I've never had any issues with Samsung m.2 ssd. They've worked with multiple motherboards over the years as I've updated computers. I'm now looking to get higher memory over, but the 1tb capacity is great and they still perform like new. Once they're formatted it's very easy to use like any other drive, just directly in Windows you can see everything about the drive.

Its also been pretty efficient overall and I havent really had any latency problems when it comes to uploading and downloading. The thermals have also been very solid for the ssd though id say it does get a little warm when stressing it. And throughput has been the best part because my previous setup was hard drives so this NVMe ssd has overall been a very good investment. :)

The biggest problem I ran into while using this is the limited installation information. At first I thought I needed an adaptor for this to work. There were no video tutorials available or explicit directions to walk me through the installation process. I eventually figured it out, but it took far longer than in should have.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] During the 8 years that I have been booting off a 970 Evo, I have had three other drives fail me. A Seagate, WD, and PNY. The PNY I was expecting to fail, but not the other two given their load as mere game libraries. Still, the 970 Evo shows no signs of age in that time, despite being my C drive. It was an easy decision then, to buy another Samsung drive for my other M.2 slot. The 990 Evo is every bit as good-looking as it's predecessor(which is a weirdly neglected design consideration by some manufacturers, we like to display our internals these days) and also comes with no heatsink. While my 970 did occasionally throttle during very large transfers, the 990 never seems to, maintaining its significantly faster speed no matter what I throw at it. As long as Samsung keeps making the best stuff, I'll keep buying Samsung.

Reliable storage, consistant, i wont say a value, in normal sense, these drives are expensive, but, you can trust they wont crap out and loose all your data either .. Belonged to my best friend, my partner of 20 years. He past away. And going through his belongings, I found a few nvme drives. This is one of them. I had a motherboard for over a year, that I repaired, but never built the pc. When I found these drives, it made me finally build my first computer. And I used his 3 nvme drives as the core storage. I now have a amd 9600x granite ridge, 4 ddr5 8gig sticks, (2 are sodimm, with adapters), yep, laptop ram in a pc, and, 4 ddr5 sticks, in a gigabyte b650 gaming ax mb. With a rx 5700 xt gpu. Memory has been flawless. Always is w samsung solid state drives. He would have been proud of my pc. Im thankful I still have a few pieces of him forever. Like hes in my computer. They do get warm. Nut its expected at these transfer speeds..

When looking at a hard drive replacement it was hard to see anything better than Samsungs offering. It's fast, stays cool and most importantly it is reliable. I've had mine for well over 2 years now with no issues. I'm definitely going to always start with Samsung nvme drives when I need a new one.

I got it when I purchased my Book 5. I have not had ant lags on my laptop and it's great knowing that I can store additional files in the sevond SSD instead of using the main one. Plus using Samsung magician really helps to check health and temperature. Start up is fast!
