I did a little read and right test and didn't quite get the performance I was hoping for. I placed the M.2 in the slot closest to the cpu, but still no luck. I believe I might need a better mother board, but I was honestly a little bummed at getting half the speeds shown on the outside of the packaging. I know it says "up to 7,150 MB/s. Still though....half is kind of low. BUT with all that said. I do notice a difference in boot up speed and data transfer speed. I was able to reflect everything from my original drive over to this new one pretty quick.

It has strengthened my brand loyalty because it is one of the fastest options, and not to mention, you can get it at phenomenal prices. I have tested many different types of hard drives, from traditional to solid state, and the performance is incredible—fast and reliable. There's no issue with data corruption, and you almost forget about defragmentation because it's so quick. It's compatible with almost everything and stays cool, even during heavy use. Sometimes it can get a bit hot, but it generally remains efficient without a heatsink. Overall, I love trying applications on it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I upgraded from a SATA SSD, to the 990 Evo plus NVMe m.2... My cold boot time to the desktop was about 30 seconds. The PC now boots in 9 seconds. I play a large open world multiplayer video game as well. Normally to connect and load A server/map would take 4 to 5 minutes. I was loaded and spawned in in about 1 minute with the new drive. It's safe to say my SSD bottleneck is no longer an issue. Setup was a bit tricky, That's no fault of the drive. It was an issue with my main board recognizing the m2 as a bootable device. Once I figured that out, I was able to install Windows from a flash drive in no time flat. This is a great product a great upgrade for PC enthusiasts.

Files move really fast across the device and demanding applications like photoshop and video editing are loaded and used in a snap, I also like the boost file transfer speed, little disappointed though at the file transfer rates, but you can't really go wrong, it's a quality product, do yourself a favor and snatch one of these up.

I purchased this 990 EVO Plus 1TB SSD. It isn't one of those 1TB drives that is only like 825GB. This one is exactly 1TB. Its transfer speed is also incredible. Games that would take hours to transfer on a traditional SATA HDD only take minutes on this NVMe SSD. It's also very versatile. I could put this in my PC, PS5, Laptop, etc. Just a quick removal of a couple panels on the device and just put it in the PCIe slot. Simple as that. I am also confident that it will last me and work just like new. I am confident that this is one of, if not the best value and overall SSD on the market right now.

Speed is top notch which is super important for the games I play. Cooling with the stock heatsink is better than expected and extremely low power draw. I work in IT and this SSD makes my computer feel and run snappier than most other brands I've worked with when booting Windows. Plus it being a 2tb, it has more than enough storage for all the games I have installed, and makes them open and run smoothly. To top it all off, it was decently affordable as for as NVMe storage goes. I ourchased it some time ago, so I don't remember the exact price, but I wouldn't have gotten it if it was steep.

As with any NVME SSD, it’s not limited to laptops, and can be used with any computer that has a NVME port. The drive was packaged well and securely. Installation was same as with any other NVME SSD. Once I cloned my drives and installed the new one, my laptop booted with no issues. No driver was required for use, though I do recommend the Samsung Magician utility. What was immediately evident is the increased speed when my computer loaded. My prior drive wasn’t slow either but this new drive was noticeably faster. The larger storage capacity didn’t hurt either. Can’t speak to longevity yet, but first impressions are great! Assuming it holds up to the test of time, I would highly recommend!

Speed is insane. Pretty much boot times are nonexistent and apps open up instantly, and file transfers are crazy fast. Samsung claims up to 5,000mbs read speeds, and while I didn’t run benchmarks, everything just feels way snappier compared to my old Gen3 I mostly game, edit videos, and a lotvof multitasking, and this little guy keeps up with everything. No lag, no slowdowns, and it stays cool even under heavy loads. As for the price, this is easily one of the best SSDs out there (especially if you can get your hands on a discount). If you want a fast and reliable upgrade without selling your house, this is your go-to

I have tried my best to push this to it's limits but I haven't found them yet. This my be overkill for casual users but if you do gaming or multi-tasking this is a need. I used to balance a 120 Gb SSD (sata) and a 2 Tb HDD. I would have only my OS on the SSD and everything else on my HDD, but now I have my OS and all my games and personal files on this fabulous M.2. I thought that buying a new hard drive would mean I have to reinstall my OS so I held off at first, then I heard about Samsung's "Samsung Magician" software. I installed the new M.2, installed the software, ran their data migration tool, restarted my PC, and then used it like normal but with faster loading speed and no "low hard drive space" warnings. It was that easy.

He installed the Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVMe SSD into the older PlayStation, while the bigger secondary drive was moved to the Pro. Even though speed tests say this SSD is supposed to be slower, I honestly can’t tell any difference. The games I play the most, like Minecraft and Fortnite, load just as quickly as they did before, which is awesome. What I really like about this SSD is that it gives us a lot more space to download and store more games. Now I don’t have to worry about running out of room when trying new games or keeping all my favorites installed. If you love gaming and want to upgrade your console, this SSD is a great choice. I bought this additional ssd to be able to download more games and to be able to enjoy it on my samsung book 3 ultra. I am very astonish with how well it performs tasks such as downloading or uploading files. I have had it for 3 months now and I have never faced any issues in performance with this ssd. This ssd is very perfect for my needs in gaming and for my studies in computer science in university. I love the fact that there's also an app dedicated for the ssd for us as customers to modify performance and other essential settings, it adds more in depth of on how we can customize it as we want. It's a good value for It's price and it really exceeded my expectations. Keep up the great work samsung, I am a loyal customer to your products and I always will be.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I went from an older spinning hard drive to this Samsung 990 EVO Plus drive, and the comparison in boot-up time and running regular tasks is like night and day. In addition, my office is much quieter without the spinning noise and occasional clunking of the traditional hard disk drive. I am especially interested in the longevity of this drive, but being solid state it should be much more reliable than a spinning disk. Time will tell on that, but so far very impressed with the NVMe technology. The only downsides I see is that there are faster models available for not much more money, and the number of NVMe slots on a typical computer is fewer than you might find compared to older, slower SATA connectors.. If you need a huge amount of storage you might need to stick to older spinning hard drives, but if you want a fast boot drive or system drive, these are the ones to get.

At the time i bought it the price was a bit higher than being comfortable with. The price of it now makes it a no brainer for PC or PS5. Bought the 990 Evo Plus 1TB for some extra storage. I use it as a secondary drive in my custom PC and it's just as fast as my primary, although no DRAM, without any noticeable lag. I now have enough space for gaming, music, and my pictures and videos. Extremely happy with my purchase and the performance of the Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD cards.

Its a small and fast nvme piece of tech capable of smoothing out texture loadi ng and fast loading my large size games.

So far I haven't had any issues and I've owned it for about 2 years now. It's the fastest SSD that I own. If you're putting a heat sink on this make sure you remove the back sticker on the heat sink however the sticker on the SSD can stay on it because thermally wise it actually helps it.

As for longevity, I can't speak to that yet for this product, but I have a 500 GB 860 EVO I bought in 2018 that works to this day so I expect this drive will outlive this computer.
