I often find myself wanting files somewhere other than where they are. Yes, I upload to the cloud. Uploading them works but takes time. I connected this to my laptop and copied folders almost instantly. Copying those folders to my iPad was also almost instant. This saves me so much time. This is so perfect for backups. It connects to so many devices. I am clumsy at times and won’t have to worry about this slipping out of my hand. With dust and water resistance, 9.8 ft drop resistance; I think I won’t be able to damage it without trying.

Super fast for my usage, lots of space to store my personal stuff like documents, photos, videos softwares etc. The most important above all is it's portability it's so lightweight and small in size you don't even know you are carrying it in your pocket, easy to connect with USB C cable which comes along with the hdd. Guys it's STURDY STURDY AND STURDY enough even when is falls down from a height as it happened in my case 2 to 3 times. It fell from a table of height of 3 to 4 feets you just plug it to your machine and it works as if nothing has happened.

This is a great, fast, reliable external drive. I now have 3 and am about to purchase a 4th. The only reason I am giving this 4 rather than 5 stars is because they are difficult to label. I've tried permanent maker and it wears off, labels or tape won't stick to the silicone, and the cord disconnects so labeling that wont work. I also think this should come in more colors - from both a marketing standpoint, and it would be easier to keep track of which SSD is which!
For reference - I am a full-time photographer and use this to store tons of large files. The speed of this drive has improved my workflow and the portability is awesome for travel.

The design is perfect able to grip it without with the silicone body. I have no problems connecting to any of my phones or laptop to be able to add more files to clear space on other devices. This 1TB for me holds a lot of the pictures and documents that I need but dont need right away giving me room to add more later and come back when needed. This is a ten out of ten for getting the job that I need it to do. I highly recommend and if 1TB is not enough for you, they also have it in 2TB and 4TB. Which makes it even better to fit ones needs.

It fits easily in a shirt or pants pocket and is a few mm larger than a credit card, 12 cards thick and much smaller than my wallet. I also like the ribbed thick rubber enclosure as it's not that rubberized paint or coated plastic that turns to a sticky glue feeling after a few years.
I use it mostly to backup my cell phone and to transfer files between phones, Laptops, and PCs. I plan to test it with my router to see if it works as a media storage device. Overall, I am very pleased with the Portable SSD T7 Shield USB 3.2 2TB (Black) and plan on purchasing more.

This drive has great build quality, a Stealth look, IP65 water resistant, rugged, and Decent speed. Also 4TB!!!! This is precisely what I was waiting for. The only thing I had hoped for was the true NVME speeds this drive lacks. But possibly they didn't release at that speed because of the overheating and reliability at those higher speeds. Sandisk G40 Pro is achieving 2k speeds but that's crazy expensive. I think this is the sweet spot. Will be looking forward to the faster speed drives Samsung is going to release in the future.

Once I got it home it took my breath away!
It is small and sleek, and well-designed. It sits on the corner of my desk, makes zero noise, and generates very little heat - but it does deliver.
The speed when backing up my internal drive is insane - I have never seen anything this fast! The 600GB backup that used to take 3 - 4 hours is now done in 58 minutes - it is screaming fast!
I love it - and would recommend it to everyone I meet.

Cloud storage got so cheap it made more sense so it has been plugged into my daughter's Gaming PC as a third drive and let's her move game files without having to pull the rigs wires. She loves it and it has worked flawless. It's not blazing fast by today speeds but way more than adequate for most tasks. She runs Red Dead 2 off it with no issues.
It has also been DROPPED several times so the protective casing is well built and stylish.
Does everything you would need for a mobile drive that gets thrown in bags by kids...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] really enjoy the drive with one minor issue. The build quality is solid and I enjoy the rugged build. The speeds on my 2019 iMac computer are fast. HOWEVER I have the drive encrypted using Mac APSF encryption. This slows the drive on my computer (as it does on other drives) but on my wife's M1 MacBook Air, this drive suffers more read slow down than my Sandisk SSD extreme V2 drives. Those drives (also encrypted) suffer almost no read/write speed slowdown on her computer but this Samsung drive suffers noticeable read slowdown. Not sure why there is a discrepancy there but it is. Overall however, the drive works great on my computer and seems reliable so far. Do recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] so i picked up one of the new samsung t7 shield drives to use when out in the field shooting photos. i love this drive as it gives me the ability to transfer files off my camera through my laptop to it quickly. the amount of speed this thing has is incredible. it didn’t quite hit the speeds that they mentioned but was able to transfer much faster than others i have tried. with the ip65 rating, i don’t have to worry about the weather getting bad or overheating because of its thermal guard. i got consistent 400-450mb/s when transferring files and is fast enough to edit off of. if you’re looking for a fast drive that you can actually work off of then this is the one for you!

I can transfer files to it in a flash from my computer and it hardly takes up any space in my bag. The T7 Shield is the perfect addition to my workflow. Such an incredile SSD drive. I recently used it to backup the photos I took on vacation, because the hotel wi-fi was too slow to upload my photos to my backup cloud service. The transfer speeds are lightning fast, so is accessing my files. This SSD is a must add and great improvement over anything I have used in the past.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't usually write reviews but this product here deserves more than 5 stars, I use the t7 ssd portable ssd 4tb on my alienware aurora r7 and I'm able to store a massive amount of videos and games, i bought it almost two years ago and I still have 2tb left of space, speeds are great make sure you have 3.2 usb c ports in your devices to take advantage of such great speeds, my games load faster than the ps5s ssd and Xbox ssd, make sure you update the driver there are YouTube videos to show you how to, its very simple and easy I noticed the update helps to prevent corrupted data, personally I've never experienced any issues but it's something I saw on YouTube before my purchase

I also have the 1tb T7 Shield that I purchased over 2 years ago and it too is still going strong. I love the Samsung Magician software that they interface with, it keeps me on top of the performance of them. I plan on purchasing the Samsung 4tb T7 shield soon as I have filled up both others. My best advice is to buy the largest SSD as you can afford to begin with because they work so easy and seamlessly that you're going to fill it up before you know it.

I wanted this to backup the pictures on my wife's phone. It hardly took any time at all to do the task. This thing is a super fast. One of the best features is its size. It can fit in your pocket. That makes it easier to use and also an item that would be used more often. Let's face it, if we have to carry it in another bag, there are times it would get forgotten. This was advertised as a plug and play for mobile devices. It's not a plug and play because the app for this product is terrible. It does nothing. Absolutely nothing. I purchased 5 of these. I kept 1 and gave the others as gifts. What i thought was a great gift ended up being a lil embarrassing. I normally brag on Samsung products but this is the worst product that I have dealt with since joining the Samsung team 20 years ago. I will stick with them, however, I hope they decide to improve this product and all supporting features which are nonexistent at this point.

I was able to download a 4g file in under 5 seconds. For those unfamiliar with doing things like that, that is AMAZING! Used it on location to back up the files from the days shooting. WOW! I went out on a limb and let my grandkids toss it around. Not an issue even after that. Samsung did an amazing job on this product! The drive does not get very hot even after being plugged in for hours. And yes, I was given a discount on this device in exchange for an Honest Review. I highly recommend this for anyone on the go or who just wants to get things done quickly.

I'm sure it also contributes to the toughness of the drive should you drop it. I definitely like the beige color as it matches some of the aesthetics in my home so I dont really feel the need to put it away and hide when I'm don't like some other boring ones. Which was the best decision I've made.The data transfer speed is impeccable from phone to ssd and ssd to tab or laptop. And the ssd is comes with a hard case which protects the SSD from both dust and water resistant. I've dropped the device in water once and there is no data loss from the device. I have had to change laptops 4 times in the last few years (because they quit working), and it was challenging to make sure all my pictures and files were saved. I was able to pull all my important documents and pictures onto the SSD T7. I had no problems transferring the files and they transferred very fast. Now I have a backup and don't have to pay for extra cloud storage. It's nice to have all my pictures in one place. I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion.

I bought one of these when I got my new laptop in February. Galaxy Book 3 360. Amazing laptop and I got this on the cheap as an add on. I have not been disappointed. Nice rugged external SSD with extremely fast data transfer. Weighs almost nothing. Holds all the data I've accumulated over the years with room to spare. You can format it to be an OS installation drive, which I had to do to help a friend in a pinch, but that's a waste of it's space and capabilities. Great air gapped backup drive. When one of my sons ran out of space on his laptop, I got him one of these to migrate his files to. Problem solved. He'll probably get another one as a backup. Can't say enough about it, it's a great piece of gear to have in your laptop bag.

First Use: I wanted this primarily for my phone as even with my sd card I was running out of space for photos and videos. This would be perfect to move anything that I didn't need on my phone for everyday use.
It took me a little while to figure out how to get it synced up with my phone. I needed to download and app and watch a few videos to figure it out but once I got it, it was very simple to use. Files moved over very quickly. I also attached it to my laptop and it was very easy to use there as well.
This is a great little device for the price and when you want something that you can realistically carry around with you or hold onto files that you won't necessarily need everyday.

It's very easy to connect especially through the USB, it connects directly to my laptop or my desktop. It has built-in security which makes it resistant to people trying to hack into it as well as the security suite which makes it even optimized to have better performance cooling and many other points of interest. With the type of work I do it helps knowing the security and durability of Samsung products because when you have dependable product you know that it won't get damaged. And one of the major things is losing your information or data because it might overheat or get damaged. What I've noticed with all of Samsung devices is that they have a good cooling system within it and basically it keeps all my data regulated and ready for access

I purchased this drive in January and have been using it on my MacBook Pro M1 since February. I have been noticing very slow performance from FCPX but never thought to check the SSD until this week. I used Black Magic and saw abyssmal read/write numbers of around 38 MB/s!
I tried using 3 different cables, no change. I tried connecting to another new iMac M1, no change. I tried re-formatting with exFAT, no change. I tried reformatting with MacOS Journaled, no change.
I am going to see if I can get Samsung to replace the drive with a new one.

The second time I used it was to connect it to my Samsung Galaxy S24, and it was definitely fast, much faster than the good old Toshiba HDD I've had for years. Not quite as fast on the phone as it was on the desktop, but still VERY impressed. Super satisfied with the purchase. Well worth the price. I would highly recommend the product.

I am a long-term Samsung loyal consumer based on experiences and not product hype. So when reviewing this portable drive like many prior purchases there is a high standard of expectations in need of validation and yet again I can easily say this product checks all the boxes from performance to Aesthetics to durability and beyond. speed tests:
i use crystaldiskmark for speed tests. using my samsung galaxy 360 laptop using thunderbolt 4.0, i got 1070 mb/s read and 1016 mb/s write. using usb c & usb 3.2 connections i got 463 mb/s read and 455 mb/s write speeds.
3-year limited warranty
activity light is on the same side as cable connection, so just a tad hard to see unless you flip drive
the t7 is a tad pricey but considering size, weight, speed advantage and nearly 0 chance of it being damaged – it is a great portable option, and i would highly recommend it.

I already know Samsungs products last, and have great performance, but I wanted to make sure this one would be tough as well! Have not been disappointed! While being almost ridiculously small for its 2TB, its fully wrapped in a casing that almost screams 'drop me! I dare ya' While I haven't yet, partially since that casing also creates a anti-slip feature, it was purchased to hold car software for my laptop, so its not always handled that nice, often in a rush to setup, look something up, and go back to work.. dirty, grimy hands, swapping from usb to usb c ports depending on laptop, sitting in whatever weather, whereever I set up, has never been an issue! It's always ready to grab and go!

I keep all my music discographies of complete artists digital collections, movies for long trips or lil get away. It came with two USB cord types for easy connectivity to my laptop, phone, tablet, and even my desktop. The storage easily allows me to safe and keep high-quality videos and photos, without having to delete them to get extra space. As a content creator, that is really helpful. The material is also super strong and durable and withstand falling on just about any surface. Overall, the performance of the device is a 10/10 for a pocket-sized device.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This drive is incredible. I typically use an external drive to move files to and from my phone (and DSLR camera). Since my phone is my life, I transfer everything from movies, pictures and audio in and out (especially with the limited amount of space on a typical mobile phone.
While I will not hit max speeds from my phone, this drive was transferring at more than double of any other drive I have previously used. Transferring multiple gigabytes in seconds. It really makes the transfer process easier. In the picture attached you can see that I was able to transfer 28GB in about 1.5 minutes.
Another great feature is the rubberized case surrounding the drive. It is really easy to grip - it won't slip put of your hands, but even if it does, it seems to be so well protected on all sides.

The connectivity to my computer is seamless and the download is very fast. Through my lifetime, I have had eight old and bulky hard drives to store my photos/videos. They have all been consolidated to my SSD T7. The other thing i like about it is that it is so compact, I can put it into my shirt pocket. I highly recommend the SSD T7 for your most important photos and files.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the Samsung T7 Shield 4TB with my Xbox Series X for about a year and a half, and it has been reliable the entire time. I use it to store the majority of my game library, and the large 4TB capacity has given me plenty of space without having to constantly manage storage.
The drive is compact, easy to set up, and has performed consistently since I purchased it. File transfers are quick, and I haven't experienced any issues with data loss or drive failures. The rugged exterior also feels durable and provides a good grip when moving it between locations.
After extended use, I can say this has been a dependable storage solution for gaming. If you need additional space for a large game collection, the T7 Shield offers excellent capacity, performance, and durability in a portable package.

Read and write speeds of up to 1050/1000 MB/s let me save and transfer files often in just a few moments. The rubber exterior which contains a thermal guard, keeps it super cool as well. I have no worries of the SSD overheating. The exterior was made for durability, so I can take this SSD anywhere, like off-roading and hiking. I have been able to connect the SSD to multiple devices as it is compatible with so many types of devices.

The T7 Shield comes with the transfer cable, and the T7 Shield has a very nice feel, a non-slip rubber coating. I finally ran out of room on the internal 2TB, Samsung 980 Pro. So hopefully having 6TB worth of storage should get me years of use. I always try to invest in Samsung Electronics, they've never failed me. Keep delivering them goods Samsung.

I have WD and it stopped working pretty quickly, think it's the cord which has a specific connection, so you can't get a new cord even with recovery plan.
The T7 has a standard USB/C cable, light weight, and carrying case.
I use it to keep important documents backed up, my University class files and my gaming (my laptop is old and need to keep as much as possible free).
I planned ahead and got the 4T. Still so much space available.

I bought this a year ago and it works great and the data transfer rate I'd really good and works smooth and fast but the only problem is if you have a password set up for it then you need an application to enter the password and that application isn't available/working on mobile devices but is working on computers/laptops so I wasn't able to use it for my phone when I had the password security option set up and I had to disable that to transfer data between my phone and the SSD.

I love my Samsung T 7 SSD. The speeds that this drive resfscsnd writes st are absolutely fantastic! I have had THIS drive for 2 years now and it has never let me down. If you want a fast and solid performance external hard drive, then this is definitely the drive for you. The durability is outstanding. Has a solid grip feeling too. I am waiting for Samsung to come out with their next version as I'll be buying two of them when released. You can't go wrong with Samsung products.

And I wish it could transfer videos faster. Surprisingly, playing steam games from these SSDs is fast enough. I thought I would have lagging issues because I didn't get the "faster" SSDs, but it does fine. It's also very durable for how clumsy I am, though I wish there was some type of cover for the hole openings. I bought a blue and a beige version.

I recently purchased a Black Magic ATEM Extreme SDI ISO switcher. One great thing about it is that it will record an ISO file of each input plus the switched fife. Just for a quick test, I plugged in 8 devices and also plugged in my new 2 Tb T-7 drive. I hit RECORD, checked everything and went to a video shoot. I returned 8 hours later and it was still recording. I hit Stop, unplugged the T-7 and plugged it into my edit system
I now have a beautiful, full length, fully synchronized file for each of the 8 inputs and the mix channel.
All I can say is WOW! All I had to do for prep was to format the drive to exFat.
This will drastically change my production life and make everything much more organized.
I am now ordering 2 more so I'll have all 3 colors, further helping file organization.
DId I already say WOW?

I love my Samsung ssd. It's fast and reliable. With 1 terabyte of storage it can hold all my games with no problem. Plus with the added option of portability I can take it with me and don't need to download my games again when I go to my friends house. I give the Samsung 1 terabyte portable ssd 5 stars. I moved some large files including hundreds of pictures in just seconds! In the end that is what the T7 does. It makes large amounts of data available fast. I love the multiple USB connection options. Fast is always good. I like that it is smaller than the memory device I was using, and the blue looks great. No lags, just fast access!!!

So it was a very pleasant surprise that the best value I could find happened to be from a very reputable brand that I've already had very good experience with, like Samsung. No other option had the combination of storage capacity, speed, while also being rugged with protection against shock and water, as the Samsung T7 shield. The fact that it's very sharp looking in a convenient package, and made by Samsung, were all bonuses that made it a no lose easy choice for me. 1 year later, it has been as good and reliable as expected. And speed at which I'm able to transfer huge files from my phone, still surprises me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a few months back as add on storage for my S22 ultra 500gb and it comes with a THICK USB c to c cable, I tried moving videos and files back and forth with both cables and the included one makes it almost instantaneous. We were out in the pouring rain and I forgot I had it in my top pocket, it got soaked. Worried but not very as I knew it was shock and water resistant...I blew out the port and worked like a charm even wet!!!! Definitely would recommend.

Over the years I've accumulated a number of HDD external hard drives. The company changed hands and now newer computers won't recognize them, although they are all still in good condition. I've seen Samsung SSDs on new computers and have one, so Samsung helped me make this transition to SSDs. Many computers coming out these days are sealed up with SSDs and have no choice of changing out the internal hard drive for a bigger one. I'm even looking at NVMe drives.

My only issue was that the Android app failed to recognize the device, so I cannot comment on any functionality there.
In both windows and android, the device showed up and was available as expected via explorer and my files.
I tested with Windows 11 laptop and Samsung Z-Flip3 5g phone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Set up my T7 with Microsoft Bitlocker as I intended to use it for confidential information. Worked fine at first but after a little while the read/write speed dropped to 20 MB/s from the original 700 MB/s. Returned to Samsung, they found nothing wrong and updated the firmware.
On return, speed was back to 700 MB/s until I re-installed Bitlocker; speed back to 20 MB/s. Re-formatted the drive, high speed returned. Great drive BUT not if you use Bitlocker.

Plus it's small and light. My only issue is that I have issues with using it plugged directly into my phone — it's not discoverable, while my WD portable SSD has no connectivity issues. But overall for my computer and laptop, I'd get another one for my next portable SSD.

I recently decided to use it to storage and keep safe all my travel pictures as well since the capacity is 1TB. This feels like you can have all your life saved there.

I've had this for a few months now. It has exceeded expectations from the beginning. The speeds are blazing fast. I connected it to my phone to transfer large Gb files out to the SSD. It was done within seconds. Then I connected it to my MacBook and transferred more data to the SSD, taking only seconds. It's extremely light and portable, fitting in my pocket easily. The rugged design and matte surface provides a nice comfortable grip. No complaints.

Also, if I use both at the same time, they may disconnect. I believe it is a power consumption issue. There should be a split power cable such as offered by other companies. Finally, this drive got really hot while I was upgrading to it. Since it is 4TB, it should be able to run continously for a longer time than a smaller drive.

So the one I got hasn’t had any connectivity issues or any heating issues. I have not dropped it once so I don’t really know and can’t speak on the resistance, but I would hope that it stays intact. The red and white speed is as labeled. It is quite fast and it is more than enough for my case.

I only wish Samsung could incorporate an app to use it as a storage backup device for all of my Samsung devices. Instead of transfering my phone files to the drive via pc, it would be nice to transfer files from usb c to usb c. Excellently drive otherwise. Can't go wrong with its solid built quality and robustness.

The Samsung Portable SSD T7 is very durable and the perfect size to take anywhere. With incredible speed and large capacity you can back up images and files or use it to take videos. It remains cool and runs fast. And the best part is the shock resistance! I really like that you can password protect it. The size of a credit card and very light! Goodbye slow large heavy hard drives and Welcome ultra fast light weight pocket size data storage!

Absolutely love this device. This portable HD is well built. When you take it out of the package you find all the cables that you need to have to use it immediately. I first used it to transfer files from my desktop computer in one office to another office. When I plugged the drive in Windows 10 Pro saw the drive and allowed use with no intervention needed. The transfer of 175GB of software from the desktop to the HD took less than 5 minutes. When I plugged it into the other computer the transfer from the HD to the desktop took about the same amount of time. The next test was transferring photos from the desktop to the HD. 10GB of photos took no time at all. I then switched cables and was able to access those photos from my Galaxy Note 20 with ease. This drive is a robust device in a small package that packs a big punch. #SamsungMemoryInsiders

Drive transfer and read/write speeds are great and I have not had any issues with the drive "lock" during pretty regular usage. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have purchased 3 of these devices. 2 of the fingerprint protection capable T7 touch SSD's and 1 of the rugged dust/water resistant T7 Shield's. They are all amazing. If Samsung was to make the app work on Android properly It would be amazing! I have to connect them to my computer to update the login, password and/or fingerprint if need be. The android app does not recognize any of the devices when they are connected. I have cleared the cache, reinstalled...all the normal procedures to try to get the app to work again to no avail. The app is useless.
The devices themselves, and actually including nice thick fast cables is nice! The short length of the cables leaves something to be desired but the inclusion is nice. 3 out of 5 for the constant frustration of having to connect the devices to my computer instead of having a working app for android.

I do wish it came with both a USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cable together. The software that comes with it is a little bit of a resource hog, but it works well for what's needed. Works very well with my solid state drive, which is also Samsung. Read times are day, load time are solid, and the space paid for is actually close to what is usable.

Be it reworking recipes, menus, updating schedules, ect. I am able to seamlessly move from laptop, office computer, to tablet on the line while keeping my files secure, without delay between devices. Plug and go, for instant access. The quality build, allows me to feel comfortable having it in places that most other SSDs I would be hesitant about, say on a hot line around hot liquids and foods.
Also perfect for back up storage. It is recommended that you have 3 back ups of all you important and vital information, 2 on different media's such as hard copy, and flash drive and 1 off site such is the cloud or SSD device stored away from home. The Samsung SSD T7 is a makes a perfect back up device not only at home but away woth plenty of room for storage.

After purchasing this about a month ago I am blown away at its ability to plug and play. I while traveling in my briefcase and even my pocket. This thing is a Beast. II no longer worry about accidentally bumping it and losing all my data. It is an absolute life saver for anybody.
