I use one side for Video mp3'sand the other side for children mp3's, so when there's a family reunion and all the kids got a ton of movies they can pick from in one place The other EVO. I did the same with music. One side has Spanish music completely cataloged and caterized in types of music like salsa, murrengue, bachatta ete. The othe side is English with the same format cataloged and caterized in. R&B, Disco, Rock, 80, 90, Disco music etc. Hold tons of music and mp3. Very pleased with this. Easy to carry and connect. Originally I bought it to replace my dying Ps4 pro hard drive, but having a family makes gaming very difficult! So I replaced the 870 with a 1tb hdd and put the 870 into an older gaming laptop I recently purchased. The start up time went from ~1 min to less than 10 seconds! I could not be happier with this product. I highly recommend it if you need a sata drive. Whether you need a replacement for your gaming console or computer, it's amazing! (if you need to replace you ps4 drive take note thay only the ps4 pro will take full advantage of this drive as only the ps4 pro modules support sata 3)

I remember getting 64gb ssd 850 and while at the time it took a bit for bios to deal with Ssds vs Hdd it was amazing to see a boot up after 1p second vs 1 minute. Then eventually 870gb replaced it since 64gb as a boot drive and the 512 hdd wasn't cutting it. At this point ssds we mainstream so migrating to the 870 tb was much easier and the performance( 550Mbs/500Mbs) was great over almost a decade plus the was an ability to use ram as a cache so kept my system feeling snappy up until Nvmes because affordable. I still have a small collection of these from old PCs I built as external drives and not once have they let me down

This drive specifically was perfect for a dedicated Windows OS install; 250gb SSD will provide such a speed boost over an HDD that it’s silly to NOT buy one if you have an older PC and are looking for a cheap upgrade-simply replace your OS install or migrate it to this new drive, reformat your current or use OS management tools to move/remove the older OS partitions from the disc, and you are smooth sailing! FYI I would allow 1-2 days if you need a good working PC, this should allot enough time for this upgrade

This SSD has incredible endurance for the price and I also love the outer protection because it is super tough and it will withstand anything you put it through. I’ve been using this drive for a couple months now in an external enclosure and it’s outperformed any previous drives I’ve owned in this use case. If you’re looking for a solid alternative to cheap platter drives the 4TB 870 EVO is your answer! I get 550/525MB/s read and write speeds in the enclosure meaning zero performance loss. If someone were to ask for a recommendation on a high performance SSD with capacity as high as 4TB I’d absolutely recommend this drive!

I bought my Samsung 870 Evo 1tb ssd to replace the hhd in my Xbox x (older version). It was like night and day. In my online game I play. Destiny 2, I would be flying while my clanmates were already on the ground fighting.
After the hhd swap to ssd. I was on the ground fighting before some of my clanmates. Everything on my Xbox did a total 360. Everything was so much faster my gaming experience went from a zombie type feeling to a run away train feeling.
If you are on the fence, just thinking about making the switch from hhd to ssd, I highly recommend this product! I promise you'll thank me later.

I don't usually buy anything to boost the storage space for any of my devices but I'm really glad I decided to. I have so much room now I don't even know what to do with it all! Now I have PLENTY for all my pictures of my 5 year old as she grows and I know that unless I completely lose the device it's in at the time, I'll have access to them forever and can keep adding more. I always hated when I'd get to that point where I got a message saying my device's memory was full and I had to go through and delete things that I really would rather not have. Now that's no longer an issue.

It's a company called Akai and it's really the only brand I trust for it right know. The formatting was easy on my computer because I have a 4tb ssd 990 that iI downloaded the samsung software with. Great speed has not crashed or froze. I always try to catch samsung sales though because it's more economical for me. Just always be mindful of what you put on your computer (malware,virus, etc) avoid at all cost and you won't regret a samsung drive.

The speed increase was beyond my expectations, making the unit act as if it were new. Start-up was much less than a minute whereas before I had to wait up to 3-5 minutes. All of the programs that I use daily come up immediately not the 2-3 minutes I used to wait.
As a result of the speed-up, I purchased a second 870 EVO 256 megabytes for my laptop and was rewarded with an equal increase in speed from start-up to loading programs. I highly recommend the 870 EVO SSD drives to anyone suffering from a sluggish computer.

I have always wanted an M.2 but never saw the bed too upgrade my SSD. I an aware that an M.2 is lightyears faster when it comes to storage. It doesn't seem to matter though co.paring to my SSD. That's the only thing holding me back from upgrading is that I don't have any complaints when it comes to my SSD. I'm sure one day I will upgrade to the next Samsung storage device, right now though my SSD is still kicking strong and providing me with a great gaming experience.

These type of SSD's are the only brand/type of memory storage device hat I use while running my plex media server.
Every previous spinning hard disk drive that I have ever owned has failed and lost memory. Even the few actual solid state drives that were not made by Samsung eventually died on me.
Years later after having built this media server the only working drives left are all SSD's and all made by Samsung.
Haven't failed me yet so no point trying to fix or change something that's not broken.
I run about 12 samsung SSD's ranging from about 2TB - 4TB each.
Not to mention the search and loading times I can pull off becuase of these, still has my friends feeling jealous. compared to their systems.

The reliability and speed of Samsung drives are simply unmatched by any other company. I love that I can install one, and it works perfectly and it will continue to work perfectly for a very long time- they have the durability to outperform its own read/write specs. I only use a 1TB drive, but thats plenty for a main OS drive. With the market trends on SSDs as of 2026, I may have to harvest some of my less vital organs if I ever want to upgrade to a 2TB or more.

File transfers are a snap. And I've never suffered any data loss. It's durable, as well. It's been dropped more than once and while technically not a portable, external drive it's served on those roles admirably. Not surprising as every piece of Samsung gear I've owned including several Galaxy flagship, SSDs, an expansion card and even an old, beat up, second-hand chromebook have been high quality and reliable. Even though it's almost completely full the games I have saved to it still have no problem running at all no lag, not skipping, and also no difference in the quality of the picture. All those things are what I have had issues with in the past so to finally find one that runs not only to my expectations but above that is even better. The key was to select GPT for my partition table when formatting the drive. When completed, the drive had 3.6 TB of usable space. I then used SAMSUNG MAGICIAN to optimize its performance to achieve write and read speeds over 1200 MB/second. I use the drive to store the 25,000 photo raw files for Lightroom. It more that doubled the performance of the 2 TB Western Digital hard drive I was using before. I'm very pleased with my new Samsung 870 EVO SATA SSD!

I work alot with adobe and data and am a hobbiest photographer which means i use memory alot, from cards to ssds to usb drives im constantly uploading and offloading and am oldschool so don't really use clouds. I've bought a few other brands but none have performed as well as Samsung and their reliability has be convinced to never switch.

My computer, my other device is to transfer files and data between all of them. I love the speed and productivity that it allows, and the fact that I was able to speed up my computer by removing all my video pictures, audio files. To my 1 TB drive, and then yeah, being able to use those files on any of my other devices, it's just simply by connecting it to them through the port. After 18 months, I've got 258 bad sectors. I got up today, thought something was awry with my PC. I was going to clone the Samsung to another branded SSD, and my computer started printing AAAAAA all over the screen. That was when I knew something was crazy. I did manage to get it cloned, although, it took forever, thanks to the bad sectors. After I got done cloning, I left the Samsung 870-EVO in place, and did the surface test. I could not believe my eyes. I probably would have left 3 stars, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out, how to send this into Samsung for warranty replacement. I has warranty until 2026, but how do I go about getting in to Samsung for replacement. I'm sure I need an RMA number. Any help would be great.

Since SATA SSDs can be used in place of a SATA HDD I purchased the Samsung EVO SATA as a Christmas gift. I installed, initialized and validated the SSD in about fifteen minutes without any tools (Thank you Dell).
The 6 Gbps speed maxes out the SATA interface, so it as fast as a SATA can be.
The son-in-law is much happier knowing he has another 1 TB of additional storage. And still has room to grow, if needed.

This SSD, like all my other Samsung products is in a class above the rest. It gave me fast read/write speeds with zero glitches. Before I retired my laptop I ran a quick health check and it had no bad sectors and I do a clean install sometimes 2 a year and consider myself a power user and popped this drive out to throw somewhere else later. I always recommend Samsung products to the many people who ask me for recommendations because their quality control is always a cut above the competition, in other words you won't need to mess around with replacement products if you buy Samsung = 0 downtime. There really isn't any other company I can say that about.

(All drivers updated)This drive is rated for 560 Mbs read & 530 Mbs write, but I'm getting 551 Mbs read & 496 Mbs write. Not to mention the IOPS are extremely low compared to what's documented (like 70000 below), but overall is been functional properly(not including speed). I've only owned this drive for like 2 weeks, so a review this early seems premature & has no relevance to long-term use. So do what you will, with this info.

I got this 2ish to 3 years ago and it just failed, it not only took all the data I had on it but did it as I was doing something else causing my computer to crash then to put salt in the cut it kept reporting that it was there to my OS causing that to begin glitching as it tried to access the data but couldn't so I wasn't even able to figure out it was this until I pulled all my drives and tested them 1 at a time. Now nothing is recognizing it not my desktop or the desktop of my friend who helped me test it so I don't think any data can be saved.

This thing jas worked amazimg since the day I installed it. Everything I have loaded on it boots up so quickly. I wouldn't say it could keep up with The Flash, but dang if it isn't too terribly far behind!
No for my only quasi-complaint. There isn't more than 2tb on here and that's it. So nothing really, just that now days you can fill up 2tb super quick. Other than that it's a super solid piece of hardware that I would recommend to everyone.

I have been using this product for over 2 years and I have never had a single issue. Super easy to install and helped me to build my game catalogue from my standard 1TB memory to 2TB and I could not be happier. They are highly dependable, I have used them for many, many years and have never had any issues. The 1TB capacity is all I need for each card, as I segment my drives based on their usage (gaming, file storage, media share, etc). They are compatible with both my custom built gaming rig and my Supermicro rack-mounted server, never had any performance issues with either. Magician Software for troubleshooting memory issues also has a very intuitive and user-friendly interface as well.

And the SSD 1 terabyte drive I and reviewing is where all my information of all sorts is on this Drive I call Drive D. Very fast and speedy. So my information is safe and frequently copied to remain safe. If my main Drive C /the raid drive fails. All is safe on This drive D. I must have 10 Samsung SSDs floating around. They are definitely my go to. Never had one fail in what about 20 years.

I got one about year ago and it had bad firmware but I worked with support and was able to send it in for repair/replacement since it was still well within warranty. I get it, people mess up from time to time but at least support didn't try to push the blame on me at any more. I bought another as a replacement for that one and I have 3 others all the exact same. I'd had 2x 840 EVOs before this and they held up like a champ each of them. I only replaced them for something bigger. So I fully expect these to perform the same way.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this 3 years ago to be able to store enhanced Xbox games on a separate hard drive. This allows me to quickly transfer games from this 2 TB SSD to my Xbox One X internal hard drive as it fills up quickly.
I the transfer speeds are superb and I can transfer around 20 Gigabytes (GB) per minute so games move quickly when needed. While you can't play enhanced Xbox directly from this drive (Microsoft does this to make you buy their official SSD to add storage) but this works great and has worked flawlessly for years.

The old drive was slow and took a LONG time to boot and get me to a working desktop. This drive has taken my time from over 7 minutes to less than one minute. Reading from and writing to the drive is very fast with this drive and running some tests with CrystalDiskMark showed that the drive easily reaches the max speeds for the interface. In fact, I believe this drive's performance is bottlenecked by the limitations the SATA protocol imposes on it.

I have about 20% space left on this drive and I haven't noticed any lag at all. It's the first time I've had to drive that didn't affect the overall performance of the system because it had too much information on it. It was always kind of upsetting because isn't that the point? Aren't you supposed to be able to fill it up with the things that are important to you or the things that you need for your project or job? You shouldn't have to buy a portable drive every time the hard drive of your computer gets a little bit full in order for your system to continue working smoothly. I won't be buying anything except Samsung from here on out.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this drive last year to add to the existing 3 870 EVO 2TB drives in my workstation bringing the total to 4. Why? I was running RAID 5 but quickly wanted to change to RAID 10 and needed another drive to accomplish that. These are essentially internal 'data' storage drives that I keep all the stuff that isn't 'installed' on my boot drive (Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB). There are 2 other EVO 970 Plus drives on the motherboard as well. Every solid state drive I have ever owned (many) has been a Samsung. I find them to be super reliable and reasonably priced. Even my phone (S22+) and one of my monitors (Odyssey G7 32") is a Samsung. Fanboy? Hardly. I just like stuff that works well and wouldn't buy them if they were sketchy. Need a solid state drive? Look no further than Samsung.
