I bought a 870 EVO less than a year ago... and it has died already. No warning, nothing. Just stopped working. My PC froze up and the only way to recover was to reboot... now al I get is a BSOD with UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME... it's toast. Worked pretty well while it WAS working... but really???? A year? That's pathetic, especially from a company that is known for it's quality hard drives. Do yourself a favour and do NOT buy one of these!

After 18 months, I've got 258 bad sectors. I got up today, thought something was awry with my PC. I was going to clone the Samsung to another branded SSD, and my computer started printing AAAAAA all over the screen. That was when I knew something was crazy. I did manage to get it cloned, although, it took forever, thanks to the bad sectors. After I got done cloning, I left the Samsung 870-EVO in place, and did the surface test. I could not believe my eyes. I probably would have left 3 stars, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out, how to send this into Samsung for warranty replacement. I has warranty until 2026, but how do I go about getting in to Samsung for replacement. I'm sure I need an RMA number. Any help would be great.

(All drivers updated)This drive is rated for 560 Mbs read & 530 Mbs write, but I'm getting 551 Mbs read & 496 Mbs write. Not to mention the IOPS are extremely low compared to what's documented (like 70000 below), but overall is been functional properly(not including speed). I've only owned this drive for like 2 weeks, so a review this early seems premature & has no relevance to long-term use. So do what you will, with this info.

I bought a new Samsung 870 EVO 250Gb SATA III 2.5 SSD to replace the 4 year old 500Gb Baracuda 7200 Mechanical Drive in a Dell Precision 1700 on a workstation that already has some impressive hardware specs but every time it didn't respond as quickly as I liked I checked the system stats and it has the old mechanical HD pinned at 100% (Thrashing the HD). I picked up the new SSD a couple of weeks ago, used Samsung's excellent migration and magic software and this computer is now lightening fast! It improved it's CrystalDiskMark performance by 50X, went from taking 25-32 seconds to boot to 3-5 seconds and and returns from Hibernation so fast it beats my monitor power on/synch. It's so good and easy to install I'm going to order a 500Gb SSD 870 EVO SATA III for my 6 year old HP Probook!

Ive had an Evo 500gb SSD in m.2 format for a few years now. Its the drive I keep video games that dont need that extra fast NVME speed. Its always been dependable for as much work as I make it do. Its i/o speed has barely diminished over the time ive had it, which is common in all SSD products. But programs still boot right up, and installs are quick as lightning. I just wish Evo drives were a bit cheaper, but you get what you pay for and Evo drives are top of the line for consumers.

I have been using Samsung SSD drives for quite some time. Prior to that, had experience with Seagate and inland. Overall, the migration always takes time and sometimes is painful. And when you have reliability or speed issues, it means you have to purchase another product and migrate again. After trying Samsung, with its decent speed and reliable drives, I will not experiment with another vendor.

Swapping out the drive was just as simple. The entire process only took about 35 minutes. Starting Windows no longer takes 2 minutes to fire up and get it running. 870 EVO opens up Windows in about 15 seconds. Best upgrade for my old laptop!

Dead after a year. So out of 10 pieces 3 go bad, and although they are under warranty the time to reload them and hopes of getting old data makes it tough.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great deal for 500GB and has lasted the longest I've ever had an SSD last, this thing still hasnt died and I've 2 SSDs die on me already. If you want reliability it's worth the investment in a nice samsung SSD, I'd recommend M.2 over SATA though.

Dead in 3 months with low usage. Samsung Magician scan showed almost 50% corrupted. The next day it made a whirring and loud click sound and no longer works. No computer recognizes it exists when hooked up.
