Set up and use Bixby on your Samsung Galaxy

Bixby is Samsung’s voice assistant, designed to help you use your Samsung Galaxy more easily. You can ask Bixby to perform everyday tasks, find information, control features on your device, and interact with compatible apps and connected devices using your voice. Set up Bixby and personalize it to suit how you use your Galaxy.

Note: Bixby features and available content may vary depending on your country or region, language, device model, and software version. Screens and settings may also vary depending on your device and software version.

Before you can start using Bixby, you need to set it up on your Samsung Galaxy. During setup, you can register your voice and choose how you want to activate Bixby. To use Bixby and its features, you must be signed in to your Samsung account.

Step 1. Open the Settings menu. Then, scroll through the options and tap Advanced features.

Step 2. Tap Bixby.

Step 3. Tap Voice registration.

Step 4. If prompted, allow the required permissions. Review the information provided, and then tap Next or Start to continue.

Step 5. When prompted, say each phrase displayed on the screen out loud to register your voice.

Step 6. Select the wake-up phrase you want to use to activate Bixby.

Note: Once voice recognition is set up, you can activate Bixby by saying the wake-up phrase you selected.

Bixby can help you complete everyday tasks using simple voice commands. Here are some examples of what you can ask Bixby to do:

  • Control your devices: Say “Turn on the kitchen lights” or “Take a screenshot.”
  • Check your schedule and set alarms: Say “Tell me today’s schedule” or “Set an alarm for 7 AM tomorrow.”
  • Play music and media: Say “Play the next song” or “Play songs by [artist name].”
  • Find content on your device: Say “Open the images taken at the beach” or “Show my most recently received message.”

You can change the language Bixby uses to better match how you prefer to interact with your Samsung Galaxy. Choose from the languages currently supported by Bixby.

Step 1. Open the Settings menu. Then, scroll through the options and tap Advanced features.

Step 2. Tap Bixby.

Step 4. Tap Language.

Step 5. Select your preferred language.

You can personalize Bixby by choosing from the default voice styles available on your Samsung Galaxy. Depending on your device and available options, you may also be able to download additional voices.

Step 1. Open the Settings menu. Then, scroll through the options and tap Advanced features.

Step 2. Tap Bixby.

Step 3. Tap Language and voice style.

Step 4. Select your preferred Voice style.

If you no longer want to use Bixby, you can leave the service from Bixby settings. Leaving Bixby permanently deletes your personal Bixby data and signs you out of Bixby on devices connected to your Samsung account. If you change your mind, you can sign up for Bixby again later.

Step 1. Open the Settings menu. Then, scroll through the options and tap Advanced features.

Step 2. Tap Bixby.

Step 3. Scroll through the menu and tap Leave Bixby.

Step 4. Review the information provided carefully, and then tap Leave Bixby to confirm.

Step 5. Tap OK to confirm that you want to leave Bixby and delete your associated Bixby data.

Note: You will be asked to verify your identity using your Samsung account credentials to complete the process.
