Add accounts to your Galaxy phone
To use apps, email, or certain features such as syncing data on your phone, you need to sign into an account. Or, if you want to download that brand new app from the Play Store, you will need a Google account. Luckily, you can add these accounts and more to your Galaxy device.
Information provided applies to devices sold in Canada. Available screens and settings may vary for smartphones sold in other countries.
The best way to get the most from your Galaxy phone is to add a Samsung account, so you can experience all of the exclusive features.
To add a Samsung account, navigate to Settings, and then swipe to and select Accounts and backup. Tap Accounts, and then tap Add account. Tap Samsung account, and then enter your Samsung account info to sign in. If you don't already have an account, don't worry. Just tap Create account to make one.
Can't live without Google? To use the Google Play Store and download apps from it, you need to add a Google account.
From Settings, swipe to and select Accounts and backup. Tap Accounts, and then tap Add account. Tap Google, and then enter your Google account information to sign in.
When you add your Google account, you'll be able to access emails using the Gmail app on your phone.
Last but not least, add an email account and receive your emails through the Email app.
Navigate to Settings, and then swipe to and select Accounts and backup. Tap Accounts, and then tap Add account. Tap Email, and then tap your email provider. Depending on your email provider, you may have additional requirements to complete setup on your device. If necessary, sign into your account via the internet, and then turn on access to allow use of the app.
