Set up and manage a guest network on Connect Home with SmartThings

Having a party tonight? Make sure to create a guest network for your Connect Home hub. That way, everyone can enjoy the internet, but they will not have access to your personal information. Do not worry, it is easy to set one up with the SmartThings app.

Note: The provided information refers to devices sold in Canada. The available screens and settings may differ for devices sold in other countries. You can visit the SmartThings website to check device compatibility and gather more information.

Note: You do not have to be tech savvy to set up a guest network.

1 Navigate to and open the SmartThings app.
2 Tap the Home icon, and then choose the location where your Connect Home hub is saved.
3 Tap the Devices tab (at the bottom of the screen), swipe left or right to find your Connect Home hub, and then select it from the list of devices.
4 Tap the More options icon (the three vertical dots), tap Guest access, and then tap Add guest network.
5 Enter a desired name and password for the guest network, and then tap DONE.

6 Now that you have created the network, you can share its information with your guests, so they can use the internet.
7 To delete a guest network, select the desired network, and then tap DELETE. Tap DELETE again to confirm.

Note: Before you can share a guest network with everyone, make sure you have set one up.

3 Tap the Devices tab (at the bottom of the screen), swipe left or right to find your Connect Home hub, and then select it from the list of devices.
4 Tap the More options icon (the three vertical dots), and then tap Guest access.
5 Tap your desired guest network, and then tap SHARE.

6 Choose from the available sharing options, and then send the info to your guests.

Note: After the party is over, you can turn off your guest network.

3 Tap the Devices tab (at the bottom of the screen), swipe left or right to find your Connect Home hub, and then select it from the list of devices.
4 Tap the More options icon (the three vertical dots), tap Guest access, and then tap the switch next to your desired guest network

5 The network will remain off until the next time you activate it.

Note: Maybe you are having a family get-together soon. Instead of creating a whole new guest network, you can edit the one you already made.

4 Tap the More options icon (the three vertical dots), and then tap Guest access.
5 Select the guest network that you want to edit. Tap Name and enter a new network name. Then, tap Password and enter a new password.

6 When you are finished, tap DONE to save.

Note: In order to edit the information, the guest network needs to be turned on.
