There are a number of factors that can effect the step count on your new Fit3. These include environmental, skin conditions, excess movement and vibration. You can test the step count performance by walking 50 continuous steps on a straight path. Walk as you would normally with your arms moving naturally by your side and without regularly lifting your arm to look at the watch display. The Fit3 can be used when you are swimming in a pool or the sea where the water level is not deep. The 10 minutes you are referring to is used as a test for the ATM rating of the watch, which is 5, meaning that it can be submerged in up to 50 m of fresh water. Overall, this device has an IP68 rating, meaning that it has been tested for up to 30 minutes in 1.5 m of fresh water to meet the rating requirements.
