Get recipes and plan meals on your Family Hub smart fridge
Your Family Hub comes with the Smart Recipes app, which is every cook's dream. It has an endless supply of scrumptious recipes. So many in fact, it might be hard to keep track of them all. Thankfully, you can save recipes in the app and access them later on. Plus, the Smart Recipes app works with other apps like Meal Planner and Shopping List, so you can plan ahead when making a meal.
Find and save recipes
Maybe you found a delectable brownie recipe the other day, but completely forgot the ingredients. Next time, save it to the Smart Recipes app. You can also send a recipe's required ingredients to your Shopping List, so you'll remember to get the ingredients next time you're at the store. Additionally, you can add a recipe to Meal Planner to set a later date for when to cook the recipe.
Save a recipe
Tap Apps, and then tap Smart Recipes.
You can browse through the different categories until you find a recipe you like.
Then, tap the heart icon in the upper right corner to save the recipe.
Send a recipe to Meal Planner
When you want to make the recipe, you can add it to Meal Planner. Just select your desired recipe in Smart Recipes, and then tap Send to Meal Planner.
Tap the date for when you want to make the recipe, and then tap Send. That recipe will now appear in Meal Planner.
From the Smart Recipes app, select your desired recipe.
Select the needed ingredients, and then tap Send to Shopping List.
If you have more than one shopping list, select the desired list. Then, tap Send. The ingredients you chose will now appear in the Shopping List app.

Adjust dietary preferences
If you have dietary restrictions, such as allergies, you won't have to worry about potentially harmful ingredients showing up in the Smart Recipes app. Just set your dietary preferences, so you'll only see the recipes that you want.
Swipe up from the bottom of the Family Hub panel, and then tap Smart Recipes. Tap Set Dietary Preferences at the top of the page to select the types of recipes you would like to see, such as Vegetarian, Gluten-free, Low-sodium, etc. If you don't see this option, tap Settings - the option should be available there.
When you're ready, select from the following options:
Diets: Select from a Vegetarian or Vegan diet, or None if you do not have any restrictions.
Nutrition goals: Select from dietary options like High-fiber, High-protein, Low-calorie, Low-fat, or Low-sugar.
Favorite ingredients: Select the foods you love to eat. You can select a few things or as many as you like.
Foods to avoid: Select foods that you’d prefer to avoid in your recipes, such as ingredients you are allergic to.
Foods you dislike: Type in the name of a food you aren’t a fan of, whether it’s one thing or several. Tap Save when you’re finished.
Favorite cuisines: Select from different types of foods such as American, Chinese, French, Indian, Italian, and Japanese.
Household: Select the number of family members in your household to ensure you are cooking enough food for everyone. Tap Save when you’re finished.
Cooking ability: Select from Amateur, Intermediate, or Advanced.
The same options can be set up the first time you use the SmartThings Cooking feature in the SmartThings app and are also available in Meal Planner.
Use Cook mode
Do you ever wish you could have an assistant help in the kitchen? Well, with Cook mode, you're one step closer. Cook mode will read your recipe's instructions and set timers for you!
Swipe up from the bottom of the Family Hub panel, and then tap Smart Recipes.
Navigate to and select the recipe you would like to cook.
Tap Cook Mode in the right-side menu. Review the information, and then tap Start.
The fridge will begin reading the cooking instructions to you. If you don't want them read aloud, tap the T icon at the bottom of the page. Swipe left when you want to see the next step.
To create a timer to keep track of the time, just tap the Timer icon in the lower right corner. Enter your desired amount of time (i.e., 60 seconds), and then tap OK.
The timer will appear at the top of the screen. When you want to use it, simply tap Start. A countdown will begin for the selected amount of time, and an alarm will go off once time is up.
Connect with Meal Planner
Browsing through hundreds of recipes can get tedious. Let the Meal Planner app find recipes for you. It will suggest a week's worth of meals using Smart Recipes and place them in your calendar. To make things even better, it will do this based on your dietary preferences.
When you want to get recipe recommendations, tap Apps, and then tap Meal Planner. If you haven't connected to it already, a popup for Whisk will appear. This is Samsung's food AI that helps sort out your food preferences and choose recipes for you. Follow the on-screen instructions to set it up and connect it to your Samsung account. If you've already set your dietary preferences in Smart Recipes, they will automatically sync to Meal Planner.
To make finding recipes easier, you can use the Quick Plan feature in Meal Planner.
Open Meal Planner, and navigate to your desired week in the calendar. Then, tap Quick Plan in the right-side menu.
Meal Planner will automatically suggest meals for every day of that week based on your dietary preferences.
Tap the thumbnail of one of the suggested meals to see its ingredients and instructions. You can also tap Start Cooking to enter Cook mode.
If you would like to move or delete one of the suggested meals, simply touch and hold its thumbnail. A popup menu will appear with the following options:
Move To: Move the meal to another date in Meal Planner. The meal will disappear from the current date and appear in the new date you selected.
Delete: Completely remove the selected meal from that day.
