Worked for 2.5 years then died suddenly without warning. From reading online the 980 Pro range seems to have a very high failure rate. My Evo 970 has been working for many years without any issues. I am thankful that Samsung at least offers a decent warranty for these drives.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good while it works. I bought this about 2 years ago for my ps5 to increase storage. It was perfect because I was able to store more games on my console.. However, about 2-3 months ago, when I turned on my ps5, an error message would come up saying my data is corrupted so I would proceed to reformat it and I would get an error message several times that it cannot reformat it. I'm assuming the heatsink was not adequate enough to dissipate the heat and it fried the NVMe (I couldn't warranty it out since it had been more than 1 year) . So it's great while it lasted but be weary of it not working after a period of time due to the heatsink.

Died in 9 months, samsung aren't even talking to me Drive was great for 9 months and then just stopped being able to write - so total OS lockup. Managed to recover my data but can't write to disk and there are several dead blocks so the drive is effectively dead. Spoke to customer service and they said all the right things, told me it would be replaced and the RMA team would be in contact. A month later and no contact. Nothing! Several long waste of time calls to customer service - just ask me to wait. They can't even find a reference number for the RMA team's progress. Samsung's warranty appears to be garbage. 9 months of a 5 year warranty and I not have a drive to use for my research. I've bought a lot of Samsung products over the last few years and I thought buying a premium product would have meant they would honour their warranty but here we are. $600 bucks in the toilet. Currently looking to replace the drive at my own expense. Maybe a Crucial drive this time?

I was constantly removing things to switch to a different game I wished to play. I ordered the SSD to fix that problem and that's what it did, it was a simple and easy install that took a few minutes and honestly feels like there is no difference in speed that the console has for storage. I do not regret buying this product and would honestly recommend the item if someone is looking for something to expand their storage on. I do know that if it's ever used for a PC, it seems like there is more features available but to me, just the speed and amount of space available is enough.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is now my main Windows Drive. 6999MB/s sequential read and 5217Mb/s sequential write 461181 IOPS Random Read and 305664 IOPS random write The drive runs very cool around 30 degree C. Note that I am not using it for any data analysis or content creation. I am an normal user who games occassionally. The main thing is cloning from the existing NVME hosting Windows drive to this 2TB Gen4 drive was breeze. The Samsung Magician took care of the cloning as well as organizing the recovery partition at the start of the drive without any instructions. Overall very good software support by Samsung

Perfect. I have 2 of them. 1 with the built-in heatsink and the other using my motherboard heatsink. Thermals are exactly the same and both are beasts in all aspects. I also have a 1tb 970 evo pro that has not skipped a beat. I sound like a Samsung rep, while wearing a Samsung watch, using a Samsung phone and have 2 Samsung TVs.. (just realising this now).. Heck not to mention building friends PCs and using Samsung HDDs from long ago. I think I disserve a Christmas gift! Back to this product. Not a single issue and benchmarks exceed most reviews.

Did not know what to expect since this is the first SSD of ANY type I have ever used or installed. This was a perfect fit for my computer which I recently built a few months before Christmas with these exact specifications (PCIe 4.0, M.2, NVME). The 980PRO w/ Heatsink fit perfectly even with the included heatsink and mounted firmly. Couldn't be happier with this SSD, especially since boot times have went from over a minute or more to about 20 seconds.

The load speed for the games is better than the factory memory that comes in the PS5. Since I have the digital version of the PS5 I have to download all my games and the write speed is great so downloads are a breeze! I just wish I purchased this sooner since I missed out on some free games because I didn't have enough memory to get them. Also since this comes with a heatsink I don't have any worries about my PS5 overheating.

They're just as fast or faster than the original memory. The 2tb of space is absolutely recommended it's a luxury to install multiple large games without worrying about space which with games getting larger is nice. Plus with the larger size you don't worry about slowing transfer speeds either.

So worth upgrading from the smaller and less powerful other Samsung SSD I had. My PC doesn't have the best cooling system considering it's placement so everything helps and I do believe this heatsink edition has helped my PC run smoother. Would absolutely recommend to anyone and everyone, I think the price is fire too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unbelievably fast! Coming from a Gen 3x4 crucial drive, this blows by it without breaking a sweat! Windows 11 loads in under 15 seconds. Moving from one drive to this one, it writes faster than the old drive can read and, with the motherboard heat sink installed, barely reaches 60 degrees C! A no brainer for any creative work loads. Gen 5 maybe faster than this gen 4, but for my use, would be an absolute waste.

I’m using this for my PS5 and the install was nice and quick as well as the set up. Using it was seamless. You would never notice the difference between this and the internal PS5 SSD - Performance is great! Only gripe is that i wish there was a larger storage option - I have all my games digitally downloaded and could really use the space!

This drive was fantastic for the time that it worked. I have owned many SSDs and M.2s and perhaps I have gotten lucky but all of them but this one outlasted the computer they were in. This drive completely failed almost 2 years to the day it was purchased. Trying to get warranty services has been problematic so far.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this 2TB NVMe SSD for my PS5 since it only came with ~600gb of usable space. The PS5 requires a read speed of at least 5500mb/s in order to be compatible. There are a lot of cheaper options available, but from a less known brand and you usually have to add your own heatsink to it. This SSD comes with the heatsink preinstalled and looks better than any 3rd party heatsink option available. I was also pleasantly surprised by the read speeds. The SSD has a theoretical speed of up to 7000mb/s but I knew you'd likely need a high end PC for that. Earlier reviews of this product stated you needed to do a firmware update in order to get the best speed possible, which was concerning for me since my PC is outdated and doesn't have a NVMe slot in the motherboard to test. Luckily, I was able to plug and play this SSD into my PS5 (box showed my SSD was produced on 1/30/23). Upon booting up, the PS5 will recognize the SSD and ask to format the drive. After formatting, I was able to get read speeds of 6500 mb/s (even faster than the PS5 stock drive)! If you're looking for a quick plug and play SSD for your PC/PS5, this is it!
