Not too sure what Jace's review is going on about quite honestly. I bought this monitor last week to use mainly for the PS4 Pro as well but also as a second screen to my laptop as well. I've no issues with it at all, everything I play on it looks amazing. I even tried my original PS4 on it before switching to the Pro and it even made that look better than 1080p. The monitor looks amazing in HDR. The clarity is amazing and the HDR works great for a monitor at the price. For the value you get it at, you really cannot complain about it. IPS screen, very low input lag, 4K @ 60hz (which is the max PS4 Pro can run), HDR, Freesync (if you can use it), HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. It's got pretty much everything you need unless you want a high-end gaming monitor but you'll need to spend a lot more than $500. Played Uncharted 4 on this monitor and I was blown away by how good it looked. The only problem it might have is that sometimes in the corners it gets too bright but other than that, you can't go wrong for a $500 4K monitor. The fact that it is Samsung made too, and not some cheap brand off Kogan or something, AND it's only $500 should be enough of a selling point as it is. Only thing that is comparable at the same price point is the LG UL600.

The VESA mount on the back of the monitor is so low that when you attach it to a standard monitor arm it barely lifts off the desk. I purchased a third party height adapter and even with that maxed out, it is still about 2 inches lower than my other monitor that is the exact same size (that has the mount in the middle). Other than that, the monitor is fantastic. But I REALLY wish I had known about this before I purchased it, I would definitely have purchased something different.

I haven't even had a chance to setup this monitor yet because it doesn't fit VESA compliant monitor stands. The cut-out in the curve on the back of the unit is 5mm too small in this case, meaning it won't fit any monitor stand that is made for both VESA 100 and VESA 75 - which from what I can find is every monitor stand. You'll need to find some bushings, as adaptor plates made to convert 75->100 won't work due to the depth of the curve in the back.

Bought this monitor last November as an upgrade to 4K for my desktop computer, mainly for watching TV shows/movies, some gaming and general use. Overall, the colours and clarity are great. White colour uniformity is quite good. Black levels look good and there's little IPS glow. There are some slightly dimmer areas near the edges but less than other monitors I’ve used and not noticeable in everyday use. The screen had a yellow tinge out of the box and I needed to adjust the red/green/blue levels a bit to remove it. I’ve experienced very little glare even while using it next to a window. The monitor supports HDR and I tried it with a few HDR movies and it looked good. For a monitor with all the features needed for proper HDR (high peak brightness, local dimming, good colour coverage, etc.) you would be looking at $1500+ but this monitor does a solid job for the price and also supports wider colours (~90% DCI-P3). In SDR mode the colours are a little bit over-saturated, but this is mostly fixed after installing Samsung’s monitor drivers and enabling the colour profile in the Windows settings. However, Windows doesn't seem to support colour profiles all that well and also has some issues when it’s in HDR mode, where anything that doesn’t support HDR ends up looking a bit washed out. I couldn't blame the monitor for this though and I’ve heard that it works fine with Macs, and the over-saturation isn't noticeable for the most part and only seems to affect SDR mode. I personally keep HDR off unless watching a movie or playing a game that supports it. The monitor comes with a HDMI cable but I had to use a DisplayPort cable in order to get 4K HDR at 60 FPS working. It also supports FreeSync but I couldn't really notice a difference when it was turned on. The monitor’s build is solid and the stand is sturdy, although it can wobble a bit if your desk is wobbly. It only supports VESA 75x75 mounts so if you have a 100x100 or 75x75/100x100 mount then you'll need to use an adapter or use spacers. Overall, it’s a great 4K monitor with solid specs and great value for the price.

I already have several Samsung monitors, I bought this monitor as an upgrade to my second display so they were both Samsung 4K monitors. What I have found is, the colours don't match any of the other screens so the screen background is different no matter how much you tweak the colours, not too much of a complaint but the brightness of the monitor is not consistent over the screen e.g its much brighter at the bottom than the top and get this, thin back lines towards the sides of the screen appear blue. Every second horizontal appears to be a different thickness, and you cant adjust the sharpness of the monitor either. It didn't come with a display port cable only a HMDI cable, let's be serious display cards only come with one HDMI and multiple display ports so why not ship it with a display port cable. The only redeeming feature is its 28' 4K. If that's all that matters then maybe consider it but I am thinking of taking it back!

Bought this monitor about 6 weeks ago as an external monitor for an old laptop. Was so impressed even running at lower than max resolution that I went and bought a new Intel NUC to take advantage of the full 4k resolution. Make sure you get a 60hz HDMI2 or display port cable. The best feature is the rich colour contrast and the screen brightness is very good and far exceeded my expectations at this price point. There are a couple of pre-set brightness/contrast settings which you can change in the monitor settings using the little joystick under the Samsung logo or you can simply create your own by changing the slider. The only fault I can find with the monitor is with the VESA mount points in the design of the plastic on the back and I give it 4 stars here and 5 for everything else. I had to modify my NUC VESA mount plate by cutting a little clearance into the plate so my NUC could be screwed and attached to back of monitor and kept out of sight. Not a deal-breaker for me, but for some with more precise requirements it might be. My productivity has greatly increased with the UR55 as it is a pleasure to work with and since using it I would find it difficult to go back to the constraints of a laptop screen or any 28 inch monitor or less with LED display type or less than 4k resolution. Once you upgrade you will understand why. It is like going from a Porsche back to an old banger. Yes OLED is better, and 120hz is better if your doing performance intensive gaming. But you would be looking at twice the price, even more for OLED/AMOLED. If you primary use is for working, coding, typing, browsing, multimedia/photo editing, watching films/videos, and light gaming than this monitor is hard to beat for just $500. Good DPI too as fonts and typography are smooth, colours are rich, websites built with modern CSS responsive frameworks look fantastic, just make sure you scale your desktop with whatever OS you are using to set it up to your liking.

Had this monitor for about a month now and there is no way to permanently and completely have the Power/Stand-By LED stay OFF. The cable layout on the back is also not that great. Having a nice all black monitor only to ruin with some silly silver bar trim on the from. It functions as well as any other monitor in its category.

It literaly says no borders while there IS a huge 5mm border in reality and on the ad picture also. It is good that ive got this monitor at very low price. Would be very dissapointed if paid full price. There are also shadows on the left. Well, overal picture is quite good and brightness is fine. i just do not like lies

If you own a PS4 Pro, or plan to purchase this monitor for gaming with next gen consoles, please do not buy this monitor and make the same mistake I did. Gaming on 4k (and 4k HDR) looks absolutely horrible on this, tested with PS4 Pro. It looks like I'm playing on 1080p. Playing games in a well lit room also looks horrible. Wasted over $480 on this purchase, one of the biggest regrets ever.

Bought these for the entire office. Every team member has two. We use CAD all day every day. Good size, high resolution and super clear image. Narrow bezels means pushing the screens together works well. The colour seems to be pretty consistent between the monitors.

I bought this ages ago and I hated it at first. But then I knew I loved it when it played all my movies on it. Wow, I'm so lucky for this but watch out, it's so bright it hurts your eye retinas haha x

Good quality with a low price. I use it as a second screen for my Macbook pro. It could meet my needs. The only disadvantage is that the height could not be adjusted.

A fantastic monitor. I use it regularly and have not had one problem with it. The 4K screen is so clear and the colours easily adjust to the room I work in.

Has no speakers, why would you make a monitor without any sound at all? Bad quality is bearable, no audio is not.

The extra realestate of a 4K monitor can not be overstated. These Samsungs do a good job for the price.

Good screen, not without its faults. Pros: - Nice looking screen, both when turned off and when turned on. - Good price for 4K, I think. - Colors are good. - Small bezels. Cons: - The stand that the monitor comes with is very short and not height-adjustable. You will need to either stack up some reams of paper or mount it on an arm. - The VESA mount is only 75x75, and it's recessed into the back of the monitor so you can't fit a mount that's compatible with 100x100 (and I have never seen one smaller). I had to make myself a little extension bracket out of a piece of metal. The mount is also too close to the top of the monitor, so you need to get a mount with a lot of height to cancel that out. The mounting holes are on a pretty flimsy piece of sheet metal - in particular, you don't want to be grabbing the monitor and tilting it upwards because you will probably bend it. - Some details when adjusting the settings - set contrast to 75 because 76 or higher makes the screen take on a slight green tinge, and make sure to set sharpness to 48 or 52 (50 is not available because it moves in steps of 4) to prevent any blurring/sharpening of the sacred image coming from your PC. - The "HDR" support is pointless because it only goes to 300 nits. I tried enabling HDR in Windows but it requires some headroom above SDR white and so Windows wouldn't let me set SDR white to more than 80% (IIRC) which just wasn't bright enough. Don't buy this monitor if you want to use HDR. - No local dimming. - Only 60 Hz. - Honestly at this size 4K is just OK for text. My next monitor when I'm rich will be 8K. - OSD popup for a few seconds every time the screen turns on is annoying. - Constant flashing blue LED whenever the screen is asleep is annoying.
