Why is my camera lens not centered on my Note9?

Last modified : Sep 05. 2018

The Note9 Camera lens may seem at times that it is not centered. This is actually normal as the Note9 camera is equipped with an Optical Image Stabiliser (OIS). This anti shake function prevents photo distortion from natural hand shaking while taking pictures. The camera lens is designed to move up, down, left or right to counter the shaking of our hands.

When the camera is off, the OIS is not activated, which means the lens can move around freely within the barrel. With the weight of the lens, the camera may be shifted to one side when not in use, making it look similar to the image above.

However, when you launch the Camera app, OIS is also activated and the camera lens will centre itself in its natural position.
