Transfer Files from a Galaxy Device to a USB or Portable SSD

Want to transfer important documents or voice recordings from your Galaxy device to a USB? Or perhaps you want to transfer album folders from your phone to or Portable SSD? Simply follow the below steps to learn how to easily transfer files from your Galaxy device to a USB stick or Portable SSD.

Note: To successfully transfer content from your Galaxy device to a USB stick, you will need to either use a Type-C USB or an OTG to connect your Type-A USB. It is also important that the USB stick has sufficient storage otherwise you may not be able to successfully transfer content over, or only a small portion of content will be carried over.

Transferring to a USB

1 Insert your USB into the multipurpose jack on your Galaxy device

2 Launch the My Files app

Launch the My Files app

3 Select a Category the file is saved under or search for the file under Internal Storage

Tap on a category the file is saved under

4 Long press the file to select, then tap on Copy or Move

5 Tap on USB Storage 1

7 Tap on Copy here

8 Tap on Show in Folder

Tap Show in folder

9 Then tap on the 3 dots and select Unmount. Once unmounted, you can safely remove the USB.

Transferring to a Portable SSD

1 Insert your Portable SSD into the multipurpose jack on your Galaxy device

2 Launch the My Files app

Launch the My Files app

3 Search for the file under Internal Storage

Select Internal Storage

4 Select the Folder the file is saved in

5 Long press the file to select, then tap on Copy or Move

7 Click Copy here

8 Select USB Storage 1

Tap 3 dots then select unmount
