How to use the Daily Board on your Samsung Smart TV

The Daily Board on your Samsung Smart TV displays useful information—such as weather, memos and the status of devices registered with SmartThings—when the screen is off. It can be activated by user detection or voice commands and lets you play music, use the camera and apply wallpapers without turning on the screen.

Note:

  • Feature names and icons may vary or change depending on software updates.

To use the Daily Board, check the following:

  • A 2025 or newer Samsung Smart TV that supports voice wake-up (models Q8F or above) is required.
  • 2024 Samsung Smart TVs that supports voice wake-up (Q70D or above) is required.
  • The TV is signed in to a Samsung Account.
  • Some features are only available when your TV is registered in the SmartThings app.

1 Enabling Daily Board during intial setup

When setting up your TV for the first time, you’ll be prompted to turn on the Daily Board with User Detection. Select Enable Now to activate it.

2 Enabling Daily Board from Settings

If the Daily Board wasn’t activated during initial setup, you can turn it on later: 

Step 1. Press the Home button on your TV's remote control, navigate to and select Settings and then select All Settings.

Step 2. Select Advanced Features, then select Daily Board.

Note: For compatible 2024 model Samsung TVs, head to General and Privacy and switch on Daily Board User Detection.

Step 3. Select Enable with User Detection to turn it on.

Note:

  • You can choose to enable the Daily Board with User Detection, Voice, or both for a more seamless experience.
  • If Voice is enabled, say “Hi Bixby” or “Alexa” when the screen is off to launch the Daily Board. To check or change this setting, go to:
    Edit > Settings > All Settings > Advanced Features > Voice > Hands-free wake-up > select Always.
  • In quiet environments, User Detection may not work reliably. You can adjust the sensitivity by selecting Edit > Settings from the bottom right of the Daily Board screen.
  • The Daily Board screen turns off automatically after a set time. To change this, go to Edit > Settings from the same screen.

The Daily Board includes multiple widgets that help you manage your day.

Note: The supported widgets may vary depending on the model, region or user environment.

1 Weather: View weekly and hourly forecasts. Tap the widget for detailed information.
2 Memo: Use the Memo widget to write, send, and view memos. Selecting the widget shows a list of previously written messages. To use:

Note: SmartThings available on Android and iOS devices. A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required.

Option 1. Use the SmartThings app - After registering your TV in SmartThings, open the app on your phone. Select your TV’s card, tap the Featured tab, then tap Daily Board and enter your message.

Option 2. Use Bixby voice commands - If the Daily Board is set to Enable with Voice, you can add memos by voice even when the screen is off. For example, say “Hi Bixby, add a new note: ‘Happy Birthday.’”

3 Home Status: The Home Status widget lets you check the status of devices registered in the SmartThings app. If no information is available, a guide widget will appear instead.
4 Camera: Monitor your space through connected IoT cameras. Tap the widget to view the real-time video.

Note:

  • The widget becomes available when a compatible IoT camera is connected in SmartThings.
  • Some camera models may not be supported.
5 Energy: View and compare monthly usage. Requires enabling SmartThings Energy in the SmartThings app on your phone. To enable, open the SmartThings app > Life > Energy.
6 Music: You can play music using Spotify Connect on the Spotify app installed on your mobile device. Select your TV from the device list, and the music will play through the Daily Board widget.
7 TV Plus: Discover a variety of interesting content recommended by Samsung TV Plus, without turning on your TV.

Note: Available in Samsung TV Plus supported countries.

Personalise the Daily Board by updating the wallpaper, adjusting widgets and managing settings:

1. Select Edit to adjust the settings.

2. Select Wallpaper to choose a background you want or turn it off.

3. Select Widgets to customise which widgets appear.

4. Select Settings to manage the following:

  • User Detection: Adjust sensitivity or set Inactive Schedule. The Inactive Schedule disables the user detection feature during the time period you set.
  • Timeout: Set how long the screen stays on before turning off automatically.
  • Night Mode: Prevent the Daily Board from turning on in dark environments. When the surroundings are dark, this setting keeps the screen off even if a user is detected.
  • Auto Loop: Automatically cycle through multiple widget pages.
  • Tips: View usage instructions.
  • Widget Auto Adjustment: The widget order is tailored to your usage and the updated information.
