I took sometime researching on what SSD to buy. After going through lot of reviews and performance benchmark comparisions, i have bought 2tb samsung 980 pro. My laptop already had heatsink plate, so opted for non heatsink version. I am happy with my purchase. Data read and write is far better than the SSD that came in with the laptop. The only issue i faced is with the magician software which didn't work to clone my existing ssd. Tried around 10 times. I had to install OS on the new SSD losing old data.

Got this exact SSD yesterday 11/10 honestly. My old SSD would only download at around 11 Megabytes per second, this thing is maxing out my internet! Today I was getting 95 Megabytes per second download speeds with a 100 Meg plan, honestly might upgrade to a Gigabyte plan sense this thing can obviously keep up. Another thing to keep in mind is I only have a PCIe 3.0 mother board too, so I'm not even using this thing to it's max ability! The ONLY complaint I have is that windows was a pain to install on it, and honestly could have been user error or just my system, but everything else has been fantastic especially for the price.

It is a blazing SSD in the market. Running lots of graphics and data analysis is not a problem as the SSD has high-performance bandwidth capabilities and excellent cooling. I highly recommend this SSD to those who find a NVME 4.0 drive for their new or upgrading their old system. Pros: - Speed - Unlikely to ever fail - Warranty - Sampson magician Cons: - May run hot - make sure to cool it appropriately (probably not the best choice for hot laptop chassis) - Needs pcie 4.0 (again, excludes most laptops)

It didn't take too long but since a Windows OS clone is a bit meticulous, the sector by sector portion is important. After successfully cloning and booting for the first time, I IMMEDIATELY noticed a rapid speed boost. I was shocked with such a drastic difference from the Samsung Evo SSD to the Samsung NVMe 1TB. Installed internally and due to the data transfer speeds, I bought an external 2TB of the same NVMe PRO 980. I've been using this drive for over a year and utilizing Samsungs NVMe tools, the drive has not any performance. Excellent product, have and will continue to recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had my 980 Pro for about a year. I also have a 850 Evo, 860 Pro and I'm about to purchase a 990 Pro. The reason I'm staying with Samsung is 1. Their memory controllers are the most high tech out of all brands. 2. Their products last a long time. My 850 is still going strong and it gets a terabyte of transfer every week. Finally, these drives are seriously fast. I wasn't expecting such a big increase going from a 860 Pro to a 980 Pro, but there really is a huge difference in speed between Sata and NVME M.2. If you are thinking about a Samsung drive or another brand, let me save you some trouble. Go with the Samsung and enjoy speed, and piece of mind.

I have been using some decent PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSDs, but when it is paired with my Ryzen 9 3900X and X570, this is a next leap forward in terms of speed; simply amazing performance. In my storage benchmark, it shows 6,708MB/s sequential read, and 4,874MB/s sequential write. So this is perfect option those who read and write big files from/to it. Only problem is that I could not find any games and software that can take full advantages of its raw speed. Well it's not Samsung 980 Pro SSD problem anyway. I highly recommend Samsung 980 Pro NVMe SSD for those who want to experience next generation PCIe 4.0 speed.

nice 2tb nvme drive. i bought the 980pro with preinstalled heat sink. my asus older z170 deluxe mb did deactivate two of the six sata drive ports when i placed this m.2 drive into the sole slot in this 5 1/2 year old asus board. the speed and capacity of this drive are excellent even in this board. once i partitioned the drive with the live gparted cd, the installation of archlinux was smooth and fast. since samsung has not ported magician to linux, i am relying on the o/s' ability to manage trim and i left the last 200gb unpartitioned in the event that overprovisioning becomes a future option in my o/s.

Problem after problem ensued: everything, from a bad flash drive that corrupted the install, to a complete reinstall due to upgrade issues, went wrong. This poor SSD was wiped over and over again - making me nervous because that's a lot of read/write cycles it's racking up in a hurry! Now that everything works perfectly, this SSD screams and boot up is almost instantaneous. Files are available without delay, and I couldn't be happier with this drive's ability to take a lot of digital abuse and rock on like nothing ever happened. I highly recommend it without hesitation.

I was extremely impressed with the Read/Write speeds, as they were spot on as advertised. Both drives did not disappoint, I was able to receive over 6500 MB/s read speeds and over 5000 Write speeds via the Samsung Magician App. Through this amazing app, I was also able to optimize my drives through performance optimization. Given you properly cool the NVME drive you will have no issue getting consistently fast and reliable read and write speeds. Although I can't speak to the longevity of this specific model I have used other samsung ssd and have never had an issue. If your comparing a samsung ssd to a similarly quality alternative, even if the samsung costs 10-15% more I'd go with samsung. If the price difference is more than that I'd consider other brands otherwise I'd recommend defaulting to samsung in regards to buying pc memory.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i recently finished building a new gaming pc using a motherboard capable of supporting pcie gen 4 and installed both a 500 gb and also a 1tb samsung 980 pro. i was extremely impressed with the read/write speeds, as they were spot on as advertised. both drives did not disappoint, i was able to receive over 6500 mb/s read speeds and over 5000 write speeds via the samsung magician app. through this amazing app, i was also able to optimize my drives through performance optimization. samsung hit a home run with the new 980 pro gen 4 pcie nvme ssds. if you are a gamer, i would highly recommend these!!!

i purchased this device strictly for the speed of the device and for the most part the unit hits the advertised speed. unfortunately, the difference between my old pci-e 4.0 m.2 (5000 mb/s) drive and this new pci-e 4.0 m.2 (6900 mb/s) drive was not enough to physically feel much difference. i was worried about heat so i installed an external heatsink on the device prior to installation. the heatsink keeps the device at or below 60c so i am please with the temps. the device does have a heat spreader built into the label but since i used an external heatsink i do not know how effective the heat spreader is at controlling the temperature. overall if you want bragging rights this drive is for you.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got a great deal on this drive with a combination of a good sale price and a cash back bonus bringing down its pice by 1/2. This made it cheaper than much lower tier of device with only half of the capacity and only Gen 3. So coupled with the great price, the high end cash and cotroller really let the drive take as much advantage of Gen 4 pcie speeds that it can. It's the best drive I have ever had and I feel good trusting it with my os and high value files. I also use it for my currently installed most demanding games thanks to having plenty of space for a few triple A installs.

I've been holding onto this for 1 year now, and overall, it's very fast at loading files, exporting, copying, and all about the basic stuff. The insulation took no more than 15 minutes and was the first time I installed a second SSD into a gaming device. It is so fast and add so much storage I would not recommend any other solid state hard drive outside of Samsung's. I am a long time Samsung user and my PS5 is my baby so I wanted to make sure whatever I got would work well and this is just a wonderful solid state, it's the only one I would recommend. I almost went for a four terabytes, if I had it to do over again I would have done it, that's how much I love it.

i've been a strong supporter of samsung ssds for the past decade. when it was time to upgrade my pc, i decided to go for a samsung branded m.2 drive. unfortunately, it appears as though the qa/qc for samsung m.2 ssds did not meet the same standards as the 800 series. please look up online about slow speeds (despite software updates). i bought my drive in february (so it's been about 9 months) with only 50% of the drive filled up, but it has already failed on me. look up online about 980 pro failed drive, there's numerous posts online about this issue with no solution. the fact that this is even a thing for so many people for a rather brand new drive is very concerning. not worth rma to deal with this again.

This SSD is the perfect one for his needs. As the build is not yet complete, I had to test it out on another machine that had an M.2 slot. Needless to say, it out performs what the could handle, giving me 3,000+ MB/s for both reads and writes. I expect it to perform even better on the Asus ROG Strix B550-E , which actually supports PCIe 4.0 The 5 year warranty is also a very nice perk, as it is indicative of the quality of the Drive (that Samsung believes it will last 5 years in every day use without issue) and knowing that a quality company like Samsung is standing behind their product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the Samsung 980 Pro 2TB about 2 years ago and it is a high-performance SSD that delivers impressive speeds but while its sequential read and write speeds are among the fastest for PCIe 4.0, real-world performance doesn’t always reflect the advertised numbers, especially for everyday tasks. The drive runs hot under sustained workloads, and if you get the non-heatsink version, thermal throttling can become an issue without proper cooling. Firmware problems in earlier batches raised reliability concerns, and although Samsung addressed them with updates, it left a stain on its otherwise solid reputation. Other than that, pretty solid product I do think it's worth the value because it's been working for me without fail.

just bought a new high end laptop from top 5 company. put in 2 980 pro 2 tb and get message that it does not work with the latest intel drivers installed with windows 11 on the latest intel storage controller that all new computers are shipping with intel driver 18.6.4.1022. there also are no drivers for this drive to install on the samsung website/downloads. so bought the premium samsung ssd and its magician software lists that the drive is incompatible with the latest intel storage controller drivers. hard to believe for what samsung charges for these drives. i have read all samsung community support comments which say to install and uninstall current drivers and it does not work. save your money until samsung fixes this.

I needed some additional storage space for my gaming and bought this PCIe to be an external hard drive. Testing shows it would out perform the internal SSD I had, so I moved it internal. It has performed flawlessly and the form fit with heatsink work better than factory! My seek and write times are stellar and it was so easy to install with the included instructions. I use my rig with VR and my frame rate has been able to be increased, the stuttering eliminated. Highly recommended for any serious gamers rig.

This Solid State drive is fast and no SATA cables are required. The price of the 980 Pro, is a solid choice for gaming and even external storage. I planned to install the drive in one of my laptops but neither had the slots for this type of internal drive. The 980 Pro performs well in an external enclosure as well. I currently use it as extended storage for my laptops. However, I plan to buy a converter for my laptop to replace my old drive with it.

I went through a lot of information for many flagship M.2 drives of various manufacturers and for me, the 980 Pro seemed to be the best. From the first day, I installed this drive on my computer and installed the Windows system on it, it worked without any problems. My 980 Pro works blazing fast and without any bit of problems. The temperature in this drive is always noticeably lower under load than in my other drive from another manufacturer.

Swapping this baby in my pc was a breeze and I immediately noticed improved boot up speeds. The speeds of this drive are easily the best feature! Games basically instantly load up without any load screen really having the chance to settle fully on my monitor. I thought my old drive was fast but Samsung makes my old one look horrible. I’m a huge gamer so literally everything I store on this is gaming applications which download and launch super fast. I do just wish the drive had more space but the speed more than makes up for that. The Samsung drive software is very useful and helps you keep tabs on exactly how the drive is working and is very easy to use.

The 2 terabyte drives and higher do have a bad history for dying really fast, but new bios has fixed that and this is the 1 tb model so I didn't have to deal with that issue. Overall I recommend samsungs nvme ssds some of the best on the market and samsung has really good customer service so I'm sure that if something did happen to my drive I would be able to get a deal on a new drive or a replacement if it was ever needed.

I figured it will be a big performance improvement since the drive in his PC was a Samsung 860 EVO SATA III and this one is PCIe 4.0 NVMe m2 drive. I cloned the Samsung 860 SSD and no problem encountered; Removed the old drive and installed the 980 Pro drive. I was impressed with the improved performance. Boot up time, opening applications, disk related activities were much faster. I ran a quick benchmark of the Samsung 860 and Samsung 980 Pro using CrystalDiskMark and the differences was 6-7 times faster. Since this computer doesn’t support PCIe 4.0, I imagine this 980 Pro SSD will perform even better with PCIe 4.0 interface. This drive is gear toward power users or gaming pc.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This SSD is fast! Installing Windows 10 and all relevant software was quick with no errors. I did notice a few seconds load improvement on Final Fantasy XIV. I did see a big improvement with file transfer speeds as well. The biggest improvement was for Java edition Minecraft where I saw load times cut in half. You will need a newer motherboard with a 4.0 M.2 slot to take full advantage of this drive. As you can see from the screenshots the performance is greatly improved in a 4.0 slot. My motherboard did come with a heat sink for my M.2 and underload temps remained under 35 Celsius. This drive is a beast and I highly recommend this drive for for both your main drive and game drive. My only wish is that they made them in a 2TB capacity.

I have been upgrading my laptop every few months as I fill drives with PC games and have not been disappointed a single time! I will never buy any other brand of SSD and the price doesn't matter to me when I get this good of quality. The Samsung magician software is awesome as well and it's great to be able to update firmware and change settings like turbo mode and there's a feature to keep 10% of the drive empty so it lasts longer. My laptop did not want to detect the drive at first and then had some issues with getting the drive to initialize. After a few hours of in and out and and settings changes i was finally able to get the drive to initialize and work. Temp gets a little warm in the laptop so Air flow is key. I installed as a second drive to store all my games. Performance wise it is 5 stars but i had to take one away for the difficulty with setup and getting the drive to work. I had multiple hardware errors and Samsung support wanted me to ship the drive back to them for repair but ended up getting it to work out in the end. The drive came packaged very well. I was impressed by that.

The drive is fast and has no issues with consistent read or writes, and I eventually moved it to my PS5 where it has been for about 7 months. The device didn't struggle with loading games quickly and was still more than fast enough for the minimum standards of the PS5. I got the thermal paste included model and have seen no reason to replace it yet and would deffintly recommend this drive as long as you're purchasing while it's on sale and has a more competitive price.

samsung had the recipe for success by keeping their flash as mlc while everyone else went to tlc or "3d nand". this gave them the edge in speed for years. and with the fact that the average home user wont use up the number of writes on an mlc flash drive inside of 10 years (i actually have an old vertex 2 from 2009 still going just fine) they decided they could afford to switch to the same tactic that everyone else is using of some slc cache and then very slow tlc or even more than 3 layer flash for final storage. will you get the advertised speeds? yes for a while till you run out of that single layer cache. will i recommend it to a friend? no! do your research and find out which other pcie4.0 m.2 drives beat this one and buy literally any of those.

Got the 1tb for a decent deal and haven't had an issue with it since. Can't ask for more honestly. There might be a few others that have faster specs but after the novelty wears off, you just need something that is suitable fast but reliable. Installing it once and never having think about it again is what you should be looking for in an SSD and that's what I've experienced with this.

So I'm going to try to use an external enclosure and I'll report back on that endeavor. However, owning all the Samsung Pro drives since the 950 Pro I'm sure this 980 Pro is going to scream! Just as expected the 980 Pro performs even in an external enclosure. I currently use it as extended storage for my PS4 and PS5 and of course, it is dead silent and VERY fast! There is no competition for a Samsung 980 Pro.

I find myself using my gaming laptop for 3d modeling and Unreal Engine use, although it does also have to do with other hardware in that laptop, but it seems that the 980 performes without heating the laptop up and making the fans loud much better than the 990. I do wonder if swapping them would make an enormous impact, but they are both great peoducts...I am nitpicking for review sake. I will say that I do also have a WD Black that was free to test out and I ended up purchasing a new Samsung because I felt that if I wasn't managing the WD black with its console, it would cause problems. Like My computer overheating and melting the power cable input which was a pain

I have run over 18 different NVMe's ranging from budget Kingflash to Samsungs own products from the same generation and nothing matches the 980Pro @500Gb. I've put the 980pro in many builds I've the last year and a half, some that are beat on like a drum in an AC/DC concert. No failures and no slow down. I've removed 2tb non Samsung 980s and replaced the with 500GB and 1TB 980s as they are still the best in the configurations I build.

I Mainly use the PC for Games and Music production. No issues. No heat problem, no connectivity issues. My PC is q high end and crashing is not an option, I have not lost a single file and Storage is plenty for what I need. I lost all my files couple years ago, over 14 tb of information for school and music. I needed something reliable. I have 4 2TB, installed in the motherboard and PCI which holds some extra.

It runs my games just as smooth as the ps5 SSD and has plenty of storage for them. It also transfers the data insanely quick from the SSD to system storage. I have never had issues with this ever overheating or struggling to run games, I installed it 3 years ago and haven't had to touch it since. However, one of them can’t be read or write after powered off for longer than a day. Power it off again and the second time power on it always works fine. But the next day, same issue. It’s completely useless used in a computer. After trying it on a different PC, check the firmware etc, it’s still a mystery. The support page is useless and I have no idea how to even start a claim for warranty.

I already had some basic Samsung SSD's installed on both my desktop and laptop and already are pretty fast, but decided that I would try it on my desktop PC just to see how much faster it would be. The booting and loading differences are like night and day. It can handle more commands with the newer controller's larger I/O queues and also helping with power consumption. The new tech for temperature control is top notch and only adds to its overall value. Make sure that you have a good cooling system installed. Transferring files have improved and my gaming feels buttery smooth. I suggest installing Samsung's Magician software for even more hands-on and control of your SSD. I am undoubtedly beyond pleased. 2 thumbs up!

I've owned and used the 980 pro for over a year. I bought it to run modern games at a faster load speed and it works magnificently. Its improved my gaming experience by leaps and bounds. Most games have almost zero load time. I've had no issues at all with its performance or any form of errors or malfunctions. The best part is since Samsung owns and builds the components themselves, you are guaranteed not only top quality parts but the exact components used when Samsung does its performance tests. Unlike other brands that must rely on supply chains that are not that reliable and forces them to use alternative components. Which results in quality issues and performance issues. Overall I've had the best experience with the 980 pro and will be upgrading to new, even faster versions in the future.

I've built a multitude of production, gaming, and casual systems for friends and family, and I can't recommend the Samsung 900 series enough. 970's for budget, 980's and 990's for performance. We've put them in about half a dozen systems, and so far there have been no issues whatsoever. For upgrading, the migration software is some of the easiest to use, and these drives make loading and booting of systems perform at thier absolute greatest.

I remember the first time I used a computer with a SSD for the operating system and was blown away with the speed. The Samsung 980 PRO further improves the speed at which your computer can perform. My computer has a x570 motherboard and was able to take advantage of the speed gains from PCIe Gen4 and improves my game performance and file transfer speeds over my current SSD. The Samsung Magician software was great to clone the drive and use to maintain and monitor the Samsung 980 PRO. I appreciate the care put into thermal management through the software and thermal label because nothing slows down a PC than heat. I wish I could have tested on my PS5 but the SSD expansion port is disabled but will try it once it allows it.

unfortunately you will get the advertised write speeds only for a very limited time, before they drop close to 1,000 mb/sec. i built my pc about three months ago and initially the write speed was phenomenal. while investigating some recent performance issues however i did a few benchmarks that all showed a write speed between 1,000 mb/sec and 1,200 mb/sec. a quick google search confirmed that this is a common, and to my knowledge as of today (03/23/2021) unresolved issue.

I use the 1TB as my boot drive and the others as gaming or backup drives. The Samsung Magician software keep them all at the most current firmware for me. I don't have to worry about it at all. As I have slowly upgraded my previous drives with the 980 Pro's, I've noticed load speeds dramatically increase. The read/write speeds are easily double of comparable drives.

It comes with a suite of tools, so I can manage an type of data I am using with it. The bandwidth capabilities can handle multiple graphics and data analysis too. This device is working just fine. However, the support software, Magician, is not working as expected. It reports that it is incompatible with the Intel driver, which is delivered by a Windows update. Thus, can't communicate with the device to show temperature and, eventually, the need for firmware update. Samsung did do a poor job on that respect. And, guess what, the only way to update the firmware is via Magician. The art of painting oneself in a corner.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Literally the best PCEI 4.0 NVME SSD for write heavy professional applications like video editing, with the best sustained write speeds. For those unaware, SSD's have a write cache, and when writing large amounts of data in a sustained way, when that write cache is exhausted, the write speeds will plummet. The 980 pro 2tb is literally the best PCEI 4.0 drive in this regard and can write longer, at a faster speed, than any other drive from the same generation.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I upgraded from a 970 Pro as my main drive and thought performance gain would be unnoticeable. I was wrong. My MOBO supports PCI-E 4 for NVME storage and noticed a significant increase in speed compared to one of the best PCI-E 3 storage devices. Both read and write speeds were increased and noticeable during the load time of games installed on the drive. In a professional workflow time to write to the drive was significantly increased. Compared to other PCI-E 4 devices on the market, I prefer the Samsung as it does not come with an external heat sink. My MOBO has an integrated heat sink as part of the board design so the 980 Pro slotted in easily and was compatible with the stock heat sink on multiple MOBOs tested. I can't wait till PS5 updates to add support for add-on storage and I will be testing this drive in the PS5 next.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This SSD has awesome Performance, hands down the fastest memory I’ve ever used. Load times are greatly reduced with this Samsung 980 Pro 500GB NVMe drive. I noticed the package states read speeds of 7000MB/s and after looking at my specs I can say it’s true. Installing this drive was a breeze and windows recognized the drive right away which made installation plug and play. Keep in mind you will need a fourth generation PCI slot, recommended at least 4 channels 4x4, but 4x2 will work. The Samsung management software is amazing at monitoring your dives health which in turn help you keep an eye on temperatures. I can’t wait until Sony unlocks the SSD bay on the PS5. I know it will speed up load times there as well. Because this drive has a M.2 form factor, not much room is need for most upgrades. I do highly recommend this drive for gamers.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Worked perfectly in my PS5! Speeds are great, size fit perfectly even with a custom heatsink. Only possible downside of my use (no issue with the actual product) is that you can't update the firmware via the PS5. I plan to remove it sometime, buy an external adapter (current desktop doesn't have an M.2 slot and use Samsung's magician software to update the hard drives firmware. If possible, run the update first before installing in a PS5.

I picked this and do not regret it. I put it in my PC and I noticed immediately that my original SSD, only a year old, was not capable of doing what I wanted it to do, be fast. I'm a casual dad gamer and now I can run with these kids in FPS games like Call of Duty. It took care of a lot of lag issues with various games.

I've bought pc's from big very well known brands (won't say names but they're extraterrestrial lol), and this build is by far the best pc I've ever own and thanks to Samsungs NVMe SSD, my boot time is instantaneous, my load times are way too fast, there isn't a waiting time when searching my pc regardless if it's games, movies, or photos. Hands down the best type of drive to have!

Brought this couple years ago for my Ps5. Had to look up this problem I'm having and Im not the only one with this problem. I go to play my Playstation. Turn it on. Im thinking there was an outage. My system reset and then went to repairing my SSD. Been trying to fix it and all even safe mode. Nothing worked. Really disappointed! Im still a Samsung fanboy but this has no fix and stays at 13% and thats it. Have to turn the system off. Just blows.

the random read/write iops on my 980 pro 2tb drive are way below the specs. i am getting an average of 18,000 iops for random read and 87,000 iops for random write. the sequential write speed is nowhere near the specs either. it clocks in at around 3,000 mb/s. these numbers are from samsung magician. the drive is the only m.2 drive in my system, and it is connected to the first pcie 4.0 x4 m.2 slot on a gigabyte x570 aorus pro wifi motherboard.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had it for 1 years, it runs at 90 degrees but is stable and fast. Evene during high transfers the heat does not reach above 98. So there is not as much thermal throttling. I added and after market cooler and it runs between 76 and 87 degrees just to ensure longevity. I am still running earlier 960 and 970 versions but wanted NVME4 so upgraded. Other brand w and comes before e have failed time and time again. Cor something run hot and throttle.

I used the Samsung tool to clone data from the other SSD and it was a very smooth and easy experience. Really happy with this product. I would say that it is definitely slightly expensive compared to other brands. The one big edge that this Samsung SSD specifically has is its Samsung Magician software which is really good and really helpful.

This little stick has so much to offer and I am glad I purchase it. Installation is quick and smooth. And then the magic begins: in-game menu switching is instantaneous, load times are super fast thanks to its powerful transfer rates. Also this drive delivers 2x the data transfer rate of PCIe 3.0, while maintaining compatibility with PCIe 3.0, so if your PC does not have latest PCIe 4.0 you are still in good hands! I am looking forward to putting this drive to use in my PS5, it will be a definite upgrade. I am very pleased with its performance and cannot even imagine having something faster in the future. I mean this drive is really more than enough for any game user.

I used one 980 Pro for the C drive and another for a data drive. While the drives are great, the supporting software you can get for the drives is awesome as well. If you’re on the fence about drive type, Samsung’s 980 Pros are pretty awesome!

I love playing games and I want my PC to boot as fast as it possibly can. This drive does NOT disappoint! From power on to login screen takes 7 seconds average. The fastest time I have seen is 5 seconds. That is blazing speed and I couldnt be happier! Thank you Samsung for such a phenomenal product !

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just installed this puppy, recovered my OS in less than 2 minutes (about 30GB compressed/100GB uncompressed) and I'm up and running. Ran CrystalDisk and it pegged reading around 6850 and writing just under 5000. I cannot get the theoretical fastest speed in the real world; copying from another NVMe only yields about 3000, which is still plenty fast enough (it might be a shared bus limitation or the speed of my other NVMe). I copied 50GB of large files (2-8GB each) to it in 18 seconds. Temps run around 45c idle, the max I saw is 56c under heavy load. The heatsink does a decent job, but I was hoping it would run cooler than my other NVMes that have aftermarket coolers. They all run between 42-47 idle. Overall, I have nothing to complain about. I have only been using it for an hour, but it's working great. And yeah, the title is a 4 Non Blondes reference.

I have been a victim to cheaper ssd's that appear to be just as good on paper only to have it completely die within the first year. Your hard drive isn't something you want to skimp on. If you want peace of mind then go with samsung 980 pro for your boot drive and 870evos for storage.

I bought this to upgrade my hard drive in my laptop. All the professional recommendations said it was the best SSD out the and they are not wrong. I used the Samsung Magic software to clone my drive and it worked without any issues. It booted up right away and now I can even monitor the Temp of the drive. I now understand why it is considered the best. If you need a new SSD NVMe drive, get a Samsung, you won't be disappointed.

I already had a Samsung 970 Evo for my main drive and just when I think it can't get better Samsung releases the 980 Pro. My boot times were already amazingly quick using the 970 so whereas I didn't notice a huge difference there drive to drive transfer are so fast I almost despise having to use a mechanical as my media storage. I look forward to the day when the drives get larger and price per/mb continues to drop so I can replace all my mechanical drives. It's also my understanding that the new drive for PS5 is using the 980 pro so I will definitely be buying another one for extra storage on my console. If you care about speed and great quality this Samsung drive is hands down what you should be using in a new or existing pc build or backup storage in your new favorite video game console.

Wouldn't settle for anything less. My only issues is that a couple games refuse to run stable on the drive. Once I installed these titles on another drive, the issue went away. I hope it's just an issue with these games and not the drive itself. Take that out of the equation and it works flawlessly.
