SmartThings - Invite Members
The more, the merrier. To let your family or friends manage your smart devices, make them members of your SmartThings account. Just send out an invitation for a specific SmartThings Location and if they accept, they'll become official members. Now they can control or manage any of the connected devices in that Location.
Screens and settings available may vary depending on your Canadian wireless service provider and your software version.
You can invite members to join certain Locations in your account.
To invite a member, touch the Devices tab and touch the Location icon, in the top left corner. Select your desired location and then touch More Options > Invite member. Enter the Samsung account information of the user you wish to invite, and then touch Send. Once the user receives the invitation, they can accept it, and then they'll be good to go.
You can also invite members using a QR code. How cool is that?
To invite a member, touch the Devices tab, and touch the touch the Location icon, in the top left corner. Select your desired location and then touch More Options. Touch Invite member, and then touch CREATE QR CODE.
The invitee can then scan the QR code on their phone. They will need to navigate to SmartThings and then touch More Options on the Dashboard. Next, they will need to touch Settings and then touch Accept Invitation (QR code). From there, they can follow the on-screen instructions and scan the code to become a member.
It's not a party unless everyone is invited. To receive an invitation, the other user must have the SmartThings app installed on their phone and be signed into their Samsung account. They'll get the invitation as a notification on their phone. All they have to do is touch the notification, and then touch ACCEPT. Once this is complete, they can control the devices added in that specific Location!
If someone doesn't use SmartThings anymore, the owner of the Location can remove their membership. You can also view members in a Location in case you lose track of who has been added. To view or remove a member, touch the Devices tab and then touch the Location icon, in the top left corner. Select your desired location and then touch More Options. Touch Edit and then swipe down to the bottom of the screen.
Here you can view the Location's current members. To remove a member, touch the Delete icon next to their name. Then touch DELETE to confirm your decision.
Only the owner of the Location can remove members.
