SmartThings - Use Automation

It's the alarm clock of the future: the lights go on, the curtains go up, and the coffee is ready automatically. Well, with SmartThings, this is no longer science fiction. In the SmartThings app, you can run Automations or Scenes, so connected devices perform actions at a specific time of day, or when certain predetermined conditions are met.

Screens and settings available may vary depending on your Canadian wireless service provider and your software version.

Available features for each device will vary depending on the manufacturer’s policy, and devices that do not support the automation feature will not appear on the list of controlled devices.

Don't you wish the TV would automatically turn on when you come home from a long day of work? You can make your devices do all kinds of things when you set Automations.

In the SmartThings app, touch the Automations tab and then choose your desired Location. To create a preset Automation, touch one of the Recommended Automations, like Smart Home Monitor, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Set Up Recommended or Custom Automations

To create your own Automation, touch CUSTOM AUTOMATION. Select the condition for the Automation, such as Based on the time of day or a Member's location. Choose your desired settings, and then touch NEXT. Then, touch ADD to add an action. Choose your desired actions and settings, and then follow the on-screen instructions. When the conditions are met, the device will automatically perform that action!

Going back and forth between tabs to control devices can be a chore. However, by adding a Scene in SmartThings, you can operate multiple devices at once. How about a night mode where the lights turn off with a touch of a button?
