Monitor and Extend the Battery Life

NOTE: Screens and settings available may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Your device has an application that lets you see which applications and features use the most battery power.

View the Battery Application

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps 1 .

2. Touch Settings 1 .

3. Scroll down and touch Power saving 1 under SYSTEM .

4. Touch an application or feature in the list to view additional information and access its settings.


NOTE: When you view additional information for certain Applications, touch Force stop to close the application running in the background to save battery power.

Reduce Battery Consumption

Your device provides options that help you conserve battery power. By customizing these options and turning off features in the background, you can use the device longer between charges:

    • Discontinue use of Live wallpapers.

    • Turn off the Bluetooth feature.

    • Turn off Wi-Fi.

    • Turn off the GPS service.

    • Turn off the mobile data connection.

    • Turn off auto-syncing of accounts.

    • Turn off the Smart features.

    • Decrease the backlight time (timeout settings).

    • Decrease the brightness of the display, or use Automatic brightness.

    • Turn off haptic feedback.

Best Practices for Battery Charging

The following guidelines can help you charge your battery properly and safely:

• Verify that you are using the Samsung USB/charging cable and wall charger included with your device, and not third-party accessories.

• Ensure the USB/charging cable is connected securely and is not being blocked by a cover or case.

• Check whether a battery or charging indicator appears on the device's display when the USB/charging cable is plugged in.

• Charge using a wall outlet, not a computer, for best results.

• When the battery is fully charged, disconnect the device from the USB/charging cable.

Turn On Power Saving Mode

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps 1 .

2. Touch Settings 1 .

3. Scroll down and touch Power saving 1 under SYSTEM .

4. Touch Power saving mode.



5. Touch the slider 1 to turn Power saving mode on 1 .


The following options are available:

Restrict background data: Reduce background data usage to conserve battery power. Some applications will still use the data connection.

Restrict performance: Touch the slider 1 to turn Restrict performance on 1 . Mark the checkbox next to each function you want to turn on to restrict performance.

CPU performance: Limit the maximum performance of the CPU to conserve battery power.

Screen output: Use a lower frame rate and power level for your device's screen.

Turn off touch key light: The Recent apps 1 and Back 1 buttons on the front of your device will not light up when they are touched or when the Home 1 key is pressed.

Turn off GPS: Turn off location services and GPS functions on your device.

Grayscale mode: Convert color screens to battery-friendly grayscale. Touch the slider 1 to turn Grayscale mode on 1 .

Turn On Ultra Power Saving Mode

Use Ultra power saving mode to switch your device's screen to grayscale and turn off nonessential applications so you get the maximum battery life. With Ultra power saving mode turned on, even if you're down to a 10% charge, you can receive calls and texts for up to 24 hours.*

*Based on laboratory testing. Battery power consumption depends on factors such as network configuration, wireless service provider, signal strength, operating temperature, features selected, vibrate mode, backlight settings, browser use, frequency of calls and voice, data, and other applications' usage patterns.

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps 1 .

2. Touch Settings 1 .

3. Touch Power saving 1 .

4. Touch Ultra power saving mode.



5. Touch the slider 1 to turn Ultra power saving mode on 1 .

6. Mark the checkbox to agree to the Terms and conditions and touch OK.


7. Review the changes Ultra power saving mode will make to your device and touch Turn on.


8. The Phone, Messages, and Internet applications are automatically available in Ultra power saving mode. Touch 1 to make up to three more applications available.


Turn Off Ultra Power Saving Mode

1. Touch More options .

2. Touch Turn off Ultra power saving mode.

3. Touch Turn off or Disable.
