Getting a notification for a message sent by your best friend is awesome, but getting one from an annoying app is not. Luckily, the power to stop spam is at your fingertips.

Screens and settings available may vary depending on your Canadian wireless service provider and your software version.

1. Kiss that annoying notification goodbye. From the Lock screen, touch and hold the notification you don't want to receive anymore.

2. Touch the slider to turn off notifications for this category for this app.

3. Don't forget to touch SAVE to store the new setting.

Once notifications are turned off, you shouldn't get this type of notification from the app. If this doesn't solve the issue, then you should uninstall the app. Write down or memorize the name of the app and proceed to the next section to uninstall. Uninstalling is recommended because apps that overwrite the notification's authorization are usually spyware or malware. These apps put your phone's security and data at risk.

1. From the Lock screen, swipe slowly your finger from left to right on the notification you don't want to receive anymore.

2. A hidden menu will appear. Touch the Settings icon (the new icon the right).

3. You can keep some notifications and block some. Touch the sliders to make your selection. As an alternative, touch the slider next to ON to turn off all notifications for this app.

Once notifications are turned off, you shouldn't get anymore notifications from the app. If this doesn't solve the issue, then you should uninstall the app. Write down or memorize the name of the app and proceed to the next section to uninstall. 2. Swipe to and touch Apps.

3. By default, apps are sorted in alphabetical order. Swipe to and touch the app you want to uninstall.

5. Touch UNINSTALL again to confirm. Bye bye, bad app.
